All moderation issues should go to the AnandTech Moderator account. You should not be PM'ing moderators directly.

The moderator account is used for some Administrative functions that are not assigned to an indivigual moderator.

And will be used in FS/T.

it doesn't really work that way... there isn't some massive mod HQ with a big red light warning the mods of imminent disaster

They simply patrol the forums when they see fit. Sometimes you will know they are there, and sometimes you won't. But you should always be on your best behavior, because you never know....

I somewhat remember reading in recent days that new mods are going to be recruited and phased in during the next few weeks. I also somewhat remember it being tossed around that the community will be nominating and campaigning for certain members to become moderators for certain forums.

Do I remember correctly, and, if so, has does one go about making such a nomination?

Voted on by the mods. Some have been suggested by moderators while others were suggested by current and/or former members.

Keep in mind that there will be no Moderators elected by the members for the Social Forums.
