Not on older cars. Started my MG in first and it jerked forward 5' before the engine died. (luckily it only has 60hp)

heh, that's the thing. It's so natural to push in the clutch that one doesn't even realize one is doing it.

what kind of car do you have? both manual cars that I"ve had won't let you turn on the car w/o using the clutch.

I normally don't leave it in gear unless i'm parked on a hill...
