I could not get my daughters interested in the DAR.
Both sides of my family have been traced back to 1790 ... the 1st US census. Father's side was at the confluence of the Ohio & Monongahela Rivers which was a common gathering area to get ready to float down the Ohio to go west. There is speculation that my father's side came over as indentured servants. My mother's side had a name change in Kentucky in the early 1800s ... something about a shot gun wedding and a shootin'!
