Six left in Memphis Wolfchase. Problem is that they would not honor the discount. They said the $199.99 was the discounted price. I talked to the store manager and he was adamant.

I called the store before I went because it is about 12 miles from my house and I wanted to be sure they had them. The said they had six. When I got there the sales guy couldn't find them.
They kept looking and I kept waiting. After about 30 to 40 minutes they found them. I got two and went to the register. Sales clerk called a manager and they said that the $199.99 was the 25 percent off price. I argued for a while to no avail.

That was probably my last time in Best Buy. Every time I try to get a deal there it just never happens and it really isn't worth the aggravation to save a few dollars. I was planning on waiting for the 4870 anyway. Best Buy Sux.

I just picked two up, had no trouble adjusting each one to $149.99. I gave it a shot with the 10% off coupons, but the guy said it was only off regular price, and since he already took it down from $199.99... I didn't press too hard, and it's hard to complain. The only question is, do I really need Crossfire?

What a crock. The price clearly rings up at $199. The ad says "ALL VisionTek" cards. I'd stick it right back in his face for false advertising.....the a-hole. Take the gray area right out of the equation......

Can anybody answer this question, I bought four 3870's June 2nd for $124 each (after 10% movers coupon) when they had that special deal going.

Am I able to take my receipt back and get an additional 25% off since the weekly ad says, 25% off all VisionTek cards? I guess it would basically be a price match correct, so it should work?

To the OP: This deal for the 4850 cards is awesome, I called my BB and they didn't have any, but I think they just checked the video card self. I'm going to go there tomorrow and ask them to look up the SKU number in their system and see if they have any in the back.

If you have to ask "Do I really need Crossfire," yes you need it.

Got one at the Broadway Blvd Bestbuy in Tucson. They didn't have them on the floor yet I had to ask, They had to look for em but found em in about 5 minutes. Manager oked the transaction. From the look on the sales persons face it look like he was going to hide the rest to buy him self one haha!

Well, just picked up two of them after much hassle.

To those in Houston, every best buy has them in "stock."

However, the store across the street from my work shows 4 as in stock and available but couldn't be found. This is the store by Tidwell and 290. the store by my house in copperfield also shows 4 available off their RSS computer page, They also couldn't find any of them.

Finally, I just started calling instead of driving, and the one of Spring Cypress showed 8 in stock. There are 6 left 🙂

Just as a point of info:
The 25% off all Visiontek cards (ending tomorrow, Sat.) from the 6-15 ad page 22 is correct, but it was intended for CURRENT in stock cards. The 4850 was not expected to be around until after the 25% discount had expired. So the manager who said $199 is the discount price is technically correct.
Thats one reason why some of the stores are keeping them hard to find
So realize that the $50 off is a gift, and that many of the employees giving the discount dont know themselves whats going on, or just want to make a sale anyway

The card also runs hot as a pistol, so think about an aftermarket cooler, and since its so new, I dont even know if anyone makes one yet.

I ended up getting a total of 4 of them for $149.99 each

kept one for myself. 3 for my friends on Ebay.

as to the concens of heat. I ran some benchies and it got up to 74'C max. My card idles at 54'C

I am using an Antec 900 loaded with fans..all fans run at high speed..its still not all that loud though. I have a 120mm blowing right on top of this card.

bleh. None at Northgate in seattle. One employee claimed all stock was already on shelves, but there is a new shipment tomorrow.

I'm thinking about throwing one of these in my HTPC. However, it has a 380W Earthwatts PS. Would that be sufficient to power this card?

The rest of the computer is
1 DVD drive
1 160GB Hard Drive
1 soundcard
2GB DDR 2
Athlon X2 @ 2.6GHz (1.35v)

for anyone who didnt get one..

use your live search bar to get 20% back from live.com (see AT hot deals thread on it)

you can get just about the same deal as best buy on there

yes, way more than sufficient.

Most stores in San Diego don't know they have them, i.e. not on shelves, but if you give them the SKU and ask them to look at the "cages" in the back they will find it. El Cajon store had 7 in stock, the price was $199.99 showed them the ad, got the 149.99+tax=162.36 OTD. Now to sell my 8800gt.

Its gonna be more money of course ($30 at start), but who knows how it will shake out?

Pick up this deal at Best Buy for $160 ($70 cheaper than the 9800GTX+ that will be released NEXT month), and invest in a dual slot cooler for $30 and you have a better performing card at high settings for $40 cheaper.

I have a feeling factory dual slot designs for the 4850 will be coming out soon. Hopefully HISICEQ3!
