PUT A FORK IN IT!: VisionTek 4850 $149 + tax BB YMMV

I called my "local" (120 mile round trip) BB & they had them in stock, but wouldn't honor the 25% off because they're "technically" not supposed to go on sale until tomorrow. They said they'd give me 10% off, but I told them between what it'd cost me in gas (~$15) & what I can get it for online w/rebate (~$175), 10% isn't worth my trouble.

It took a little effort, but I was able to convince the assistant manager at the customer service desk to apply the 25% off to the MSRP price of $199. The guy in the computer department wouldn't budge off of the $199 price, which he claimed was a sale price (reg. price was $214 in the computer). With BB, I've learned not to be combative with the blue shirts, just politely ask for the assistant manager. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. (YMMV)

Happy hunting.

2 cards out the door for $320.98 including tax.

Manalapan, NJ. 2 left on the shelf.

They rung up $199.99 and I had to show them the add but they honored it.

Just picked one up at the Mooresville NC store. They had their add fliers at the front of the store. Just brought the video card and the flier to the register. It rang up as 199 showed the chasier the ad and she corrected the price to $149 and had a manager come over to do the overide. Then greed got the best of me and I tried to use the %10... no dice, didn't push but figured asking wouldn't hurt. So with tax $160 out the door.

They had one left on the shelf when I left.

Thanks OP

Just PMd this price at frys B&M in fishers Indiana. !!! Now to just find a decent Xfire board for my UberHTPC build im putting together.

I got two at the Mission Viejo, CA one. They had 8 left. They wouldn't stack the 10% coupon.

None on the shelves when I got there. In fact, the sticker wasn't even there.

these items are not on the shelf..they are stored in the back stock room.

yeah, i called. she said its not available till tomorrow 6-22-08....?

I can confirm the Tucson one as well- as of yesterday, they weren't on the shelves, but there are several there today, as of 10 am, with an "As advertised" marker in front, though no price. Cashier/busy manager discounted it, no questions asked.

Two left on the shelf Emeryville/Oakland, CA store after I got one. Needed manager override with the ad, $163.11 after taxes. Cahier would not left me use the %10 off, said it was "double dipping".

Crap, went to my BB, gave them the SKU number and the guy looked it up in the system and it showed 4 in stock in the store, so he and another guy went in the back to look for it but couldn't find it. After not being able to find it, they then talked to some other guy whom I think was a supervisor who said they can't sell the card until tomorrow and that it was still pre-order on the website.

I made the argument that the card was already being sold on numerous places online and circuit city was even selling them on their website and in the store right now. But of course, they said that if other Best Buys were selling them that it was a mistake then.

Bah, I even tried getting the 25% off sale on my ATI 3870 cards I bought a few weeks ago, but they wouldn't do that since those were bought on sale and now they are around $187, so 25% off of $187 is still more expensive then what I paid for them which was $124.

If your guys BB doesn't have them or won't sell them, check Circuit City, I called CC and they were OOS. But if they had them in stock, I bet you could price match BB and get 25% off.

I'm going to head back to BB later tonight with receipt scans and raise all the hell I can to get them to sell me one. The thing is, even if they will sell me one, I don't know if they will be able to find them since I already had the guys go in the back and look, but didn't see any. Not sure why they wouldn't find any if the store shows 4 in stock.

Though this is a good deal (i just got one) the card just runs too hot. Its currently sitting at 80* idle if gpuz is correct. The heatsink WILL BURN YOUR FINGERS!!!
Going back for a return tommorow 🙁

The video card runs hot, but who cares? It's meant to run hot, it's not like you have a faulty card and by it running hot it's going to die or something. All the cards run hot, if they failed from heat in large quantities before being released during company testing, do you think ATI/AMD would have released them anyways? No.

If you're worried about the heat hurting your other PC components inside your case, just make sure you have adequate fan flow blowing over your motherboard and anything close to the video card. As long as the air in your case is not stagnant, you should be fine.

Tried at two stores in Fort Myers, FL. Both managers said they had them, but could be fined by corporate if they put them on the shelves before 6/22 (the "in stock" date) --

That's why i put "Red Hot" in the tiltle 😉

1. Is is stable?

2. Is your system temp ok?

Would recommend above average case airflow (e.g. Antec 900) with these cards especially in Crossfire.

The sink isn't the best for sure, but the card should draw only about 110 watt peak power, which is pretty darn good especially for the performance.

I swear they will say anything

Just picked up one at the BB in Marietta, GA. They had to get a manager to mark it down but he didn't hesitate doing it. They had 2 left on the shelf.

Douglasville, GA does not have them as of last night. Don't feel like driving to Marietta. I'll check again tonight but I'm wondering why I'm bothering since I have a 9600GT that plays all my games at 16x12 perfectly...
