I got a 6600GT installed w/66.93 driver set which is the last official one. I understand that this version does NOT support PureVideo. Is there a NONE beta version that does support PureVideo?

After installing the proper driver version AND installing NVIDIA DVD Decoder AND optimizing settings, will I be able to use any media player out there and benefit from PureVideo? (i.e. BSPlayer, VNC, microDVD)

I'm thinking there are political reasons involved. The mods have worked to bury this issue and stickying this thread would be counterproductive to that end. Why, though, I don't know.
Uh-oh. Think NV was pissed at AT, for the first long-running thread about the PVP?

Guess it's a question of balancing the desires of the readership/forum participants, with that of the hardware suppliers/advertisers/partners.

Its March '05.

Where is "Purevideo" functionality?

So we are waiting for a patch from microsoft for WMV decode acceleration..OK.

*Why does my AIW 9700pro have similar CPU utilization to my 6800 using NV DVD decoders with hardware acceleration enabled? Is DXVA doing all the real work using the shader pipeline instead of the VP? What is actually being handled by the video processor anyway, the PQ is definately nice in MPEG playback...is the VP responsible for any of it?

Has Nvidia coded a single codec into the "programmable" video processor yet? What about MPEG4?, Divx?, Xvid? decoding?...encoding?

What about MPEG encoding? Have any of the software publishers enabled the VP in their software yet...can they if they wanted to (does it work)?

Do the 6600 cards have any enabled feature advantages over the 6800 cards yet?

The "Is Nvidia still working on Purevideo?"...bump.

For WMV HD, unfortunately not :( Until we get the patch for MP10 or some other player provides the necessary support, there is still no hardware acceleration.

BTW, Venture Bros rocks! I was a huge Jonny Quest fan as a kid, it had me grinning from ear-to-ear 1st time I saw it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but since I upgraded to the new Drivers (71.xx beta and .84 released), the Hardware options are greyed out in WinDVD 5 Platinum, WMP10, any DVD software I've tried. I installed the nVidia DVD Accelerator and set it up per Anand's setup. <EDIT> They're still greyed out in WMP10, WinDVD 5, etc. </EDIT> The video quality looks as though it's only running in software mode (blurry, ghosty, etc.). CPU usage is the same if I enable/disable the Hardware Acceleration checkbox on the nVidia Decoders properties.

HELP!

Hi everyone, this is my first message in this forum:

Please take a look at this thread about WMV decoding in the newsgroup microsoft.public.windowsmedia, any contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone :)

With my Leadtek 6600GT using 76.45 WHQL it works using 720p WMVHD, it really lowers CPU usage ;-)

It works flawlessly with my AGP 6600GT, CPU usage never exceeded 40% with SIL 1080p trailer. Thanks Metropolis, I've been too busy to keep up with this stuff.
