I dunno if you guys have noticed, but Sharpie markers leave a purplish reddish silvery sort of sheen. I was wondering what permanent inks out there just mark in the blackest black, without the reddish purple "aura."

Gracias.

Try some Magnum 44 giant markers. Perfect for tagging public transit.

Military High Grade Aircraft Ink

Knew some graffiti kids once that made homemade
markers out of that stuff

Any particular marker?

Sanford HI IMPACT Broad Tip Permanent Marker. I just happen to have one right here. Here is an example of it at work.

Doesn't look much different than a sharpie...?

It really was written with a sanford marker but it was just an excuse to post the pic.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Dain, that's the kind of work I'll be using it for, but I can't really tell if it has a "sheen" or not by just a pic...the sheen is only visible at certain angles. Kinda like the reflectivity of graphite.

Yeah my stepdad has one at home and although I've never tried it, it looks tough. I'll see if I can pick one up at the local art supply store tomorrow. Students get a discount :)

I also dig the smell of Sharpies :D

Wow, that looks similar to the one that Manziz has in his closet...

Slightly different, though.

:D ;)

Different writing, maybe?

How does the reflectiveness compare to that of the Sharpie's when written on a non-paper non-fabric surface like plastic?

I just tried the black Papermate vs. a blue Sharpie on a clear plastic toploader used for protecting sports cards.

IMHO the Papermate looks less reflective, but I don't have a black Sharpie to test - only red & blue. :/

Thanks. I'll see if they have that at the art store tomorrow. I might as well just buy one of each permanent marker they have and try each one out until I find one I like :p
