Pumpkin carvin, with a .22lr rifle

Here is how it turned out from the front:

Here is the exitwound side:

I made the sad face figuring it was sad that I was about to launch it into the air and shoot it with a 12ga but liked it too much to do that. So, I launched a honeydew instead. Good stuff. 😀

Just wanted to share my little pride and joy.

EDIT: This was created with a stock Remington 597 with 40gr .22lr cci blazer at about 20 yards with iron sites.

The point of the .22 is so I could draw a bit better. We had 9mm, 45, 357 sig, 357 mag, .223, 7.x62x39, 7.62x54r as well as 12ga in 8 shot & 4 birdshot and our biggest exploder, the 00 buckshot in 3 1/2.

No explosives though. 🙁

My and my buddies also discovered that things of more solid nature like watermelons exploded much better then things like pumpkins with their insufficient insides.

.223 + tannerite + pumpkin = halloween fun.

Not quite enough for Canada. He could definitely take France, though.

AWESOME! My roommates and I agree that you sir, are a badass.

All pumpkins should be carved this way. You're making me wish I had a gun.

I was thinking about getting tannerite, but the cheapest I could find em was 85 bucks for 20 1/2 pound targets.

For that much, I'd much rather buy ammo and produce.

I think I'll be carving some more pumpkins in my backyard. I'll be using this stuff so I don't freak out the neighbors.

Aguila Colibri

I'm still trying to get one of my buddies to shoot this flame thrower stuffout of their 12ga, but none of em are going for it so far. I don't want to put it through my benelli.

For those of you who wants guns, you can start out pretty cheaply. A .22lr rifle can range anywhere from the low end of a used one for 50 to 200 for a brand new remington, ruger or marlin on up for bigger budgets.

Ammo is cheap at like 2-5 bucks per hundred.

Tannerite is awesome. pour all 20 pounds into a bucket, and put it inside an old clothes dryer at the range. Shoot it with .243 - beautiful.

Better than shooting 5 gallon propane tanks.

Do the tanks explode when shot?

We shot a camp stove sized tank with an incendiary round and it blew up nice and perty. Just wondering if shooting a tank with a regular round would ignite it

I usually use just a Ballistic-Tip style bullet, and there is usually enough spark for them to blow up good - as long as they have propane in them. If not, the pressure will rush out and it will be exciting for a second - then you just use it as a regular target and blast holes in it.

Tannerite is much much better though.

Hi OP,

Your profile says you're in CA. Where exactly was this done? I'm wondering if my neighbors and the LAPD would notice much if I was putting 100 .22 rounds into a pumpkin?

Thanks!

I'm up in Sacramento and this was done in El Dorado National Forest. Yes, people would probably notice you shooting 100 .22 rounds into a pumpkin. 😀 Unless you used the aquila stuff I linked too. No gunpowder, you pretty much just hear the hammer hitting hte primer.

I use the powers of a Warlock to keep from alarming my neighbors. 😉

I wish. My range says no pumpkins or watermelons, any time of year.
Apples and oranges are OK though.

I'd like to see what a hollow-point 22 does to a Big Red Delicious.

I always go shooting up in the hills or at rural gravel pits.

Tried that with a <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/ZOXXO/460melon.gif">watermelon and a .460 Magnum.
</a>

Didn't work so well.
