And you see that shiny -- and new -- bag of EAS protein. You think to yourself, "Self: I've seen protein here before, but always some weird brand. This is EAS! And hey! It's a SIX pound bag. That's almost a pound more than your normal ON stuff!"

You check the price, and it's like $35.99. You remember seeing a coupon for ON 5.12 pound jug at a place local for the same price, but you didn't clip it, thinking you had enough for awhile. Now you're wondering: do you track down that coupon? Just go to the place you normally go, and pay $37? Or more? Whey has been going up the last couple of months. You remember thinking that $36 (for the five pounder) was the best you'd seen in awhile.

Then you check the serving information. It's 27 grams per, not even 24 like the ON. This settles it! You're here, it's cheap, you get an extra pound and it's more per! Done and done!

So here's the PSA:

DON'T FUCKING DO IT.

It tastes like ass.

That is all.

God, some people are so damn picky. Ewww I don't like how this protein tastes. I find EAS dissolves pretty good. Haven't found a brand of strawberry whey that tastes bad, although some blend better than others.

No. It is godawful. The worst protein powder I've ever tasted. They also started putting soy protein in it because the cost of milk has gone up. I tasted it, read the nutritional information and realized that it had soy in it and I returned it and got my $30 back. Normally, I would read the packaging, but every protein powder Costco had carried up to this point (both EAS and Pro Rated) had been whey protein.

Picky?

First off, it is qualitatively and quantitatively fucking disgusting. But that's what I have to deal with for the next however many months (it's actually inspiration to not skip a shake, just so I can finish it faster).

I was trying to help people not make the same mistake I made.

Given CostCo's return policy, I'm tempted to just take the damn thing back. But I already transfered most of it into an ON tub. Sigh.

Dude, it's fine. I got vanilla from Sam's Club for something like $20. That was a freaking deal. It's not great, but it's not terrible. It's protein - just drink it. It saves money and gets you big. Don't be a wanker :D However, I may be slightly irritated if I paid that much and it tastes like a thousand donkies. $20 for 6 pounds was worth it.

Um.

Okay, again, I didn't say something like "MY VAGINA FELL OFF BECAUSE THIS PROTEIN IS ICKY-POO!"

I said "it sucks, so if you're considering buying it, don't".

Especially with the serving information (not really any better than ON) and now this thing about it having more (all?) soy protein?

So relax...I'll survive. I was just trying to help out other people so they make informed decisions.

dunno why all the negativity... i for one appreciate the info :)

if the protein tastes bad, i know that i won't use it and it's a waste of money. i remember i bought some met-rx stuff way back in the day and it was torture suffering through scoop after scoop of that god-awful stuff. i tried every trick in the book - making shakes and smoothies with every ingredient imagineable - and there was just no way to cover up that taste and especially the smell. an extra couple pounds of muscle is just *not* worth the daily nastiness of bad protein. in fact, i pay a pretty good premium for syntrax nectar protein (chocolate truffle flavor) because the stuff tastes fantastic and i drink it readily. the great taste actually motivates me to drink it, which is a BIG bonus, and IMO, worth the extra $$.

Lol, nor did I say you were saying that. I'm just saying that I usually dictate stuff by quality and price rather than taste. If it's cheap and has a high % of whey protein isolate, I'll drink it if it tastes poorly anyway. I'm on a college student's budget, so I save pennies where I can :) I was just playin' around, dude :p

The product I was referring to is called EAS 100% Whey, dpsnutrition and bodybuilding.com nutritional info don't list any soy.

Apparently, EAS sells a product called EAS Simply Soy Protein, I don't think you would need to read the nutritional info to tell it contains soy.

The product that Costco is currently selling is just labeled "EAS Protein Powder." This is likely the cheapest crap you could find anywhere. In the past, Costco carried EAS whey and Wellements "Pro Rated" whey. Both were OK and led me to just grab the bag of this new crap without reading the ingredients.

EAS is good at producing products that taste like death. I tried one of their mrps and it tasted like diarrhea. I picked up Champion Nutrition's Ultramet and it is a lot better, and about half the price.

When it comes to whey protein, I've been using ON for years and will continue to do so. It tastes so damn good and they have a good variety of flavors so I'm never get tired of them.

You are probably the only person I've ever encountered that actually knows what diarrhea tastes like:shocked:

I just chug it without breathing through my nose. The "chocolate" taste is only there for a little bit of time.

I nearly projectile vomited, so I imagine actual diarrhea can't be much worse.
