I don't use PS3 for any multiplayer so I don't really care about PSN. I've had 3 xbox's fail on me though, which is orders of magnitude worse. Luckily I got in on the gamestop 360 slim trade-in deal so I can finally have a system that works.
This is me, too. The biggest thing for getting back online will be syncing my trophies, lol.
I can understand why people are frustrated for many, many reasons with the PSN downtime and Sony in general, but from a long term perspective, bringing it back online when they're only 95% sure it's secure as opposed to waiting until they're 99.8% sure could be catastrophic for Sony, especially in light of the fact that there are pockets of radical anti-Sony hackers out there that will be raring to try and bring everything crashing back down as soon as Sony flips the switch.
Sony doesn't just have to be as secure as Microsoft or Nintendo or Amazon at this point, they have to strive to be a percentage better to walk out on stage at E3 and tell people, "Yep, this was fucked up, but we've gone back, filled in the holes, crossed our T's and dotted our I's and this isn't going to happen again." Their best move at this point is to have Jack Trenton come out, point blank admit they were lax in their ability to prevent this, and that's not going to happen again.
For people who are just bent on hating Sony and the PS3, that's not going to do much. But those people were pretty much in that club before this happened, and 9 times out of 10, the minute they say something, it becomes immediately obvious.
I don't like Sony much for other reasons, but I do enjoy my PS3. Hopefully they can get past this and the developers who suffer from this downtime will recover and come back stronger for it.
