I wired my own stereo just fine. I'm also a senior in EE, though.:thumbsup:

EDIT: he must have forgotten the fuse.

I knew I should have used electrical tape on those solder points.

Thanks, I have a cutlass, now I know better than to ever try to replace the tape deck with a tape stuck in it with a cd player.

I've been wiring my own amps, subs and head units since I was 16, never have had an issue.


But I'm not a complete idiot.

Those fuses are just extra, the stereo will work without them.



I bought my first car stereo when I was 15, six months before I had a car to put it in. (Circa 1972, Sanyo under dash real quad 8 track, 35 watts RMS, the thing was huge, like 7"X8"X18")

added a pic of the install that caused the problem.

I still cringe when I see that pic of the burned up interior.
