Decks and speakers, sure you can't hurt anything doing that. But anything bigger, please pay the couple of bucks to have it installed. Here is what happens when you think you can wire in your own amp:

Those fuses are just extra, the stereo will work without them.



I bought my first car stereo when I was 15, six months before I had a car to put it in. (Circa 1972, Sanyo under dash real quad 8 track, 35 watts RMS, the thing was huge, like 7"X8"X18")
