i think this is kinda like the movie you see after you read the book. the book is always better. i have never seen the original series, but thought this was great. as nfs4 has said, most of us have not seen the original so there is nothing to compare it to which makes it better for us.

Can you even see the original in the US? How does anyone even know about the original? Also if the show's so good why remake it? Can't they just air it here?

It's out on DVD. They changed the humor to fit American culture more, and the BBC version isn't as regulated so there's some more profanity.

and inflatable cocks

The six million dollar man had me cracking up for no reason.

I  the show.

And the previews for the next episode seem great. "You want a cookie cookie?"

The US pilot show(tonight) was supposed to be very much like the UK version but as the show developes...it will acquire its own brand of comedy.

Some funny parts in it.

I started laughing my ass off when they were trying ot punk'd Pam, and she started to cry

A friend told me that the first episode isn't supposed to be good and it's basically a copy of the BBC episode, but later episodes the show takes on its own role separate from the BBC one and it's supposed to be quite good. I've heard that it's supposed to be like Seinfeld or Arrested Development in its humor (the American version).

Personally, I wonder why they even remade it - it's a fairly generic concept.

This is true

:Q b/c its funny 🙂

So I take it they fvcked it up as they've done most other BBC concepts? Whoever's "translating" these things for American audiences should get shot.

I don't watch the BBC version, and i thought it was funny. Dry and sarcastic humor...good stuff.

I was cracking up when the guy puts a "fence" up with sharpened pencils. 😀

I watched it, I have never seen the British version, and it really sucked.

I can't see watching another episode. They took the most worthless character from Anchorman and tried to build a show around him. Weak.

cliff notes version: sucked

Didn't know there was a brit version/don't care.

This one was ok. Mrsskoorb found it 0% funny. I watched the entire thing. It could have been better, but was ok. I wish I could have laughed more, though when he pulled that trick on Pam it was the funniest thing I've seen in weeks, and I was laughing my ass off at it.

I'd need to watch one more episode, but I am not sure I see this lasting past a season.

bah i missed it!

All you guys say it sucked, but hopefully it will succeed anyway. Anything to take the spotlight off of paris hilton reality shows!

I watched the Office last night and was laughing through the ENTIRE episode. Funniest show I've seen in a long time. I'll be watching this. Hopefully though it says this funny... or gets better. The boss character rules.

that show cracks me up.😀 The boss is hilarious.

The British version is a billion times better, but this was passable. My wife liked this one better than the British version since she can actually understand what they're saying.

HELL YEAH, F*CK all the haters! This show was HILLARIOUS. Steve Carrel is the boss (he's one of the correspondants from 'the daily show') and he was maginificent. In fact, i would say he's funnier than bill lumbergh from office space. 😀
