And don?t call anyone else a kid or a troll because you?re the most childish person on this forum when it comes to cars. You have ego issues, and you cry if anyone disrespects a mustang.

I?ll never forget that V6 mustang thread which you commandeered and ruined, what a joke.

Go cry somewhere else with your pusstang, fanboy.

QFT.

thank you very much, RichUK. post #2 also said it nicely

You are a little late. Next time use the advanced search and type in SVT Cobra under username search and you will find my threads easier.

I don't search you out. The sad part is i go into threads and see your berating and yelling at ppl more than i'd like to. you have seemingly never post in a thread that you weren't having a stupid argument w/ someone about. Go video tape urself liftin more cuz u have way too much aggression on this board

Please, just drive your mustang in peace instead of talk about it on here
 newbie

Here's the thing about the Mustang: Everybody else caught up....a long time ago.

The 350z is just as fast at the Shelby, AND it's a little cheaper, AND it doesn't have a crap live rear axle (so it handles better), AND it doesn't squeak and rattle and have an ugly dash.

Comparing a Miata to a Mustang is kind of stupid, 'cause they do completely different things.
However comparing a Z or an Evo or a STI to a 'stang is OK in my book, 'cause those cars are just as fast/faster than a Mustang, AND they do many, many, many other things better.

I'll take my "muscle car" as a 4 door with AWD, thanks. 😀

2003 350z: 0-60 in 5.4s (the lowest time of the 350z's listed)

2007 GT500 - 0-60 in 4.5s

I don't think these numbers matter... slap on a nice supercharger and you've got tons of power, doesn't even matter what 0-60 times are because it puts such a big smile on your face every time that you don't care about anything else.

It's also just the style of the engine... one is a nice large v8, other would be a smaller displacement engine that won't have that "attitude" or "style" that some look for and want. That's not even factoring how much power each one can get easily.

Anyway, the OP made a valid point and I'm surprised there weren't more who agreed... usually it's people on the internet bashing it for the issues he admitted it has, he just says that there's something about it that makes him love it and gave explanations.

I've read his posts and if you read them and not just get excited because he posted flame bait, you'll see either clearly something is to mess with AT, or that he has a valid point. That might have not made sense, but yeah, he messes with you guys, and tons of you get riled up very easily, happens every time! He even posts right after that saying he is accepting payments for flame bait or something and you guys keep going.

Just for the record, I love the Evo and other japanese cars in that general category... however, the Mustang does have something special behind it. It's a V8, can be supercharged for tons of power, and just screams power. It's not going to go around the track as quickly as an Evo/350z/whatever, and he admitted that, he's just saying that it puts a smile on your face to step on a nice V8 with a bit of power.

Overall, you guys love to react and get caught up in the heat of things, he's not really posting as much crap as you make it sound like... does he mess with you guys? No doubt, and it clearly works.

Whats the difference between a 1000 HP '03 Cobra and a 1000 HP Supra? Some people say "Oh look the Supra is better because it's making the same power with 2 less cylinders, thats superior engineering" but they are forgetting something.

The 4.6L Cobra does it 24/7 at 20 psi or less on nothing but pump gas. On race gas you could get 1600 HP.

The 3.0L Supra does it only with a gallon of C16 race gas @ 35 psi for the dyno session then goes back to a 20psi 600 HP tune for the street since you can't just roll into any gas station and fill up on leaded 116 octane race gas and drive around without cats.

In other words, there is no replacement for displacement, hence the love of V8s for people who really understand performance. If I were building a JZA80 Supra, my first mod would be a 3.4L stroker. The same reason I will be pursuing a VT 324cid (5.3L) stroker short block for my Cobra in the coming months, because even that little 4.6 is too small.

Yes. The GT500 and The Shelby GT are 2 diff cars. The Shelby GT is more $ than a Z and no faster. The GT500 is much more $$, and much faster.

the 350Z doesn't have an ugly dash? since when?

oh, and the mustang will fit a golf bag in the trunk. not to mention the regular GT mustang is faster than the 350Z.

🙂

The $$$ is for the rarity and demand. I am not saying or implying it is worth it, I am just saying that is why.

Squeaks and rattles are going to be a problem with any performance tuned car with a tight hard suspension if you drive on bumpy roads enough.

Gear whine, rear end clunk, all normal things with any high performance car with big beefy gears and synchros, etc. First and second gears in my Cobra sound like straight cut gears in a full race transmission. The Z06 and SRT-10 do the same. They are performance cars with bullet proof performance parts to match. Get a Mercedes or Cadillac if you want a plush quiet ride.

I'll take my muscle car with 2 doors and a V8 instead of a turbo 4 that needs to run 35 psi on race gas in order to make the same power that my supercharged V8 can make on cruddy pump gas without even trying. 😀

In all seriousness folks, it drives me nuts to see people call it a sports car or compare it as such. It is not. It is a muscle car. It is meant to be loud and fast in a straight line and scream testosterone. It is not meant to go through the "twisties" (the hanndling is like a washer dial, I know), nor is it meant to be compared to a Cobalt SS on VIR, or be put in a sports car comparison with a Miata, ehmmm I mean an MX5 in C/D.

Does it bug me because I own a Mustang. Yes of course, but even if I didn't it would still bug me to see people b*tch about the interior (yes a good interior would be nice) but it is not meant to be a frilly sports car, and the interior on the new cars seem fine to me. C/D recently compared the Shelby GT to other sports cars and it beat every one in the 0-60 and 1/4, but it got last because of its handling and such. Of course, it is not really meant to be a track car, it is a strip car.

So what I am trying to say is wipe the sneers off your faces for those that go ewwwww, the mustang loses to such and such on this track.

Agree? I am not trying to start an argument or cover up any short fallings of a Mustang.

Not to mention the MX5 is not exactly the picture next to testosterone in the dictionary, in fact it is next to estrogen (I kid, I kid, it is an amazing handling car, but that's where I would buy an Exige).

😀

Exactly.

This is my second reply to the OP, but it's still true.

Mustang is not a sports car in the classic definition of the phrase

I think it isn't a classic definition, but more like people with those cars don't want to be classified with what's commonly referred to as "sports cars." They see sports cars as inferior. Muscle cars "died" years ago, get over it.

Thats why even though gas prices are over $3 a gallon, Mustangs, Chargers, and GTOs are more popular than ever, and there is revived interest and demand for cars like the upcoming Camaro and Challenger.

No, I'd say muscle cars are making a come back and V8s are here to stay. The enviroweenie global warming zealots need to get their hemp and seaweed Prius panties out of their ass and get over it, and stop trying to control what other people spend their hard earned money on.

Modern V8s can make 300+ HP and still get nearly 30 mpg. Now what is the anti-V8 excuse?

What wastes more gas, a 2L engine turning 6000 RPM just to cruise down the freeway or a 6L engine turning 1000 RPM?
