usea different site, one that runs say coppermine and auto thumbnails all pics to like 640x480 and full size is availiable by clicking on them

They offer a free service. They limit the amount of data you can keep there (file size). They limit the content. I think following those rules is enough.

They offer a free service. They limit the amount of data you can keep there (file size). They limit the content. I think following those rules is enough.

It might be, but then again no one really needs to see a 1600x1200 (or even larger) image of something that could just as easily be half (actually a quarter as 1600x1200 is 4 times as large as 800x600) that and still convey the same thing. How many people even run their monitors at that resolution? I don't think I'll be printing out of the pics, so it's not like I need the quality for that.

Actually it makes little difference to me, but since all of them get resized anyway and I don't zoom in because I'm not interested in seeing 50% or less of the picture at one time, why waste the site's bandwidth?

Some of you are a fine example of the 'free rider' problem that exists in economics. 😛
 
The pics of hooters girl are low res, and the stoopid kitty kat pics are high res.
