I think my favorite Dersh argument was that because Trump thinks him getting re-elected is in the public interest extorting foreign powers to help his re-election isn’t corrupt.

Yes, even if there is a corrupt motive or a crime committed, so long as the president thinks what he’s doing is in the public’s interest then there is nothing wrong with that.

So has Nixon been impeached, he would have be acquitted because, although he committed crimes and attempted to cover them up, because he thought it was in the public’s best interest to be re-elected, his actions were not only non impeachable offenses but were also expected and normal behavior for a politician.

Is he just old or does trump have something on him and his Epstein connection? Because I still don’t see how he can make this argument with a straight face.

Dersh is upset, claims it's bias that have changed the scholars minds about it having to be a crime.

Pot meet kettle. It's like a parity.

don't worry, he's probably citing one of his own articles to some journal, written as a prof emeritus at Harvard.

you know--those damn scholars that are me always disagreeing with me!

In a move to be portrayed as the most moronic of the gang Ted Cruz asked if the wistleblower had worked with Biden to help Trump look bad. You can't make this shit up, no one, and I mean no one would get past the complete lack of cooperation as anything else but a sign of complete guilt. Trump's attorney's trying to explain the they have a different legal strategy for every subpoena/document request the Dem's made. Chances are every. single. one. would fail horrifically in any court but of course this is what lawyers do best, tie shit up in litigation.

ALL THE WITNESSES: Ok we all agree. This is what happened.

REPUBLICANS: None of you were in the room!

BOLTON: *raises hand* Well I was in the...

REPUBLICANS: Who asked you?! Shut up! You’re a liberal pawn!

BOLTON: Um... I’m actually I’m a lifelong Republican and I was literally Trump’s national security advi...

REPUBLICANS: Shut your mustache! Somebody bring back the first national security advisor.

FLYNN: *in orange jumpsuit* Hey sorry guys I’m in jail lol.

REPUBLICANS: What? Why?

FLYNN: For lying to the FBI about the Russia investigation.

REPUBLICANS: Well what idiot told you to do that?!

FLYNN: The Pres...

REPUBLICANS: Shut up! No one believes either of you!

KELLY: *raises hand* I believe them. And I was Trump’s Chief of sta...

REPUBLICANS: Shut up! Let’s talk to the current chief of staff. Who is he?

MULVANEY: *raises hand* It’s me. Sort of. Well, I'm the act...

REPUBLICANS: Shit. Never mind.

PARNAS: *raises hand* I was also in the room. In fact, here’s a cell phone video of the President saying that...

REPUBLICANS: Wait what?! How in hell did you sneak a cell phone into a meeting with the President?

PARNAS: It was easy I just walked right in and...

REPUBLICANS: Shut up! You’re a criminal!

PARNAS: Correct. So I just walked right into...

TRUMP: I don’t know him.

PARNAS: And here’s 500 pictures of me with the President because we’re besties.

REPUBLICANS: Wait... What idiot introduced you to the President??

PARNAS: His personal lawyer.

REPUBLICANS: Cohen??

COHEN: *also in orange jumpsuit* Hey no sorry guys I’m in jail too. Oops.

REPUBLICANS: Why?

COHEN: For campaign finance violations.

REPUBLICANS: Who’s campaign?

COHEN: The Pres...

REPUBLICANS: Shut up! Who was the campaign chair??

MANAFORT: *also in orange jumpsuit* Yeah. Me. Also in jail. Heyyyy.

REPUBLICANS: IS EVERYBODY IN JAIL?!?

PARNAS: It was Giuliani.

YOVANOVITCH: Giuliani! That’s the guy who had me fired from my job!

REPUBLICANS: Who are you??

YOVANOVITCH: I was the ambassador to Ukraine.

REPUBLICANS: Wait, you had her fired? Do you work for the government??

GIULIANI: Nope. But I figured no one really follows any rules around here so...

REPUBLICANS: Well who is the ambassador to the European Union??

SONDLAND: *raises hand* It's me. I was also in the roo...

REPUBLICANS: F@$&!!!

PUTIN: *rubs his bare chest*

So apparently everyone else is wrong about the constitution except Dershowitz.
I especially liked how he called other scholars biased because they changed their reasons for impeachment, completely ignoring the irony of his own predicament.
By Dershowitz's meantality a POTUS could sell Alaska to Russia for 1/2 value for political favors but not subjected to possible impeachment for "abuse of power" because a federal statue was not violated. Gotcha.

Yep, plus the president would be doing such a deal because he believes it’s in the public’s interest. There aren’t enough eye rolls for this level of moronic thinking./eyeroll

Now the folks on MSNBC are saying even if the vote for witness's goes through Trump's lawyers will try and claim "executive privilege" on any question concerning Ukraine. History will hold these bags of shit accountable for the damage to our constitution assuming it survives at all.

Just on MSNBC, apparently Hannity is absolutely blistering Romney as an example for further defectors, and the Club for Growth already has an attack ad out on him. Head on a pike? Wha?
The culling of the defectors is in full gear. This will be over by Superbowl.

It's not just that. A lot of the shit they are trying to argue is so bad the lawyers would face discipline if this were actually a court of law.

Honestly the whole lot should be disbarred regardless. 99% of their arguments are being made in bad faith.

Are you telling me that bringing up the Bidens constantly and complaining about corruption even though there has never been a formal investigation into it was done in bad faith? Where is my shocked face?

We cannot know what Trump's actual motives were, so therefore he is completely innocent.

We cannot hear from actually witnesses to his motives, because we know their motivations are bad, so we should not hear from them.

The slippery slope part is, if a Democratic president engaged in behind the scenes manipulation of foreign policy in order to improve their electoral chances and then stonewalled congress about it, maybe Congress would impeach them too.

The thing about slippery slopes is, sometimes they're dangerous. Other times, you slide down them shouting, "Woohoo!"

Hey now, it wasn’t just about corruption. The new talking points are it was about “burden sharing” of aid with the EU (I guess that’s why Sondland was there in the first place??)

I’m sure that’s what it was. What was the burden sharing before and after this ordeal?

if only there were some way to find out what trump was thinking...as if he were to speak testament to his thoughts at the time. if only there were such a process that the senate could take up and finish this hoax of a trial in no time!

Yeh, Trump wanted them to investigate the Bidens because burden sharing. They're just going with the firehose of falsehood technique at this point. When people can't figure out what to think they go with their gut, which is where truthiness rules.

Best question of the night:

ROMNEY: “When did the President order the hold on aid to Ukraine?” [On what date?]

DEFENSE: “umm...we’re not exactly sure” [we don’t want to reveal any info not already in the record]

Similarly, they can’t answer what prompted the hold to be lifted, but it was probably after the IG got involved.

Yup, actually brilliant move by head jellyfish Mitch, cry on TV "I can't stop witness's!" and let Fox, Trump, brightbart scare those who might defect with, "go ahead, you are DONE in office when we get through with you". It worked, I'd be shocked to see Bolton or anyone else now.
