Cliff's:
1) Elderly woman is looking for affordable snow removal.
2) Neighbor #1 solicits help via neighborhood discussion thread on internets.
3) Neighbor #2 mistakenly posts to the entire group a warning to Neighbor#1 that Elderly Woman is prone to litigation and may not be as poor as she says.
4) Neighbor #2 posts an apology for the public reply... IMO he/she didn't really say malicious, but was rather just being brutally honest.
5) Alderperson jumps in and confirms that EW is pretty difficult with lots of examples.

Alder from the City has jumped into the discussion and fired both barrels at Elderly Woman. I think this person must have some pretty serious mental health issues.... its quite sad actually... Here is the Alderperson's posting:

Dear Friends & Neighbors,
It troubles me to see this sad situation continues right under our watch. I do hope this unique situation won't affect our genuine concerns & willingness to assist other elderly neighbors in this community.
If this is indeed the same M.P. who lives in the yellow ranch house with the U driveway on Parkway, we have been scammed by her, again and again! This retired UW professor has sufficient resources to maintain her living comfortably. However, her mental conditions have been so clouded that she chooses to fabricate miserable, imaginary scenarios to abuse people's trust and exploit their kindness.
Within the last 2 years, M.P. has been calling me & my husband Dave for help, endlessly. Seeing her deplorable living condition and believing in her words we have tried to assist in many different ways, However, it turned out MP would rather con others than making any reasonable change to improve her deplorable condition.
I have consulted with Capt. Jay of West Police Station who is well-aware of this case. In fact, M.P. has exhausted Police Helpline to a point that a special officer has been assigned to handle her numerous calls and keep watch on her on a regular basis since last spring. Street Department also informed me M.P. has repeatedly contested and got away with paying city tickets!
I have sought professional advice and requested assistance for M.P. through numerous agencies: City Public Health, Senior Services, Aging Coalition, Dane Co. Mental Health, even with WSJ reporter Dean Mosiman ..all in vain! As long as MP decides to continue her way, nobody can do anything but watch her deteriorate, until disaster finally strikes!
I truly don't want to give up on M.P. and watch her inflicting harms on herself. (Nobody should judge a person who has lost sound judgment). M.P. is too incompetent to make the best decisions for herself, but as long as there is no family member to intervene on her behalf & M.P. refused to yield Power of Attorney to one, we are only outsiders who are not allowed to do much. This sounds heartless and unacceptable but such is the reality of our legal system and the way personal rights should be upheld. This frustrates me to no end, I fear one day we all will learn of the bad news, too late!
Joan Horinek, Sister Doris, Sister Mary F. H., Becky Jenn, Officer Justine H...and many other kind hearted neighbors are well aware of this desperate situation. I don't bear M.P. any grudge or have any intention to reveal negative things about her. However, it's my duty to share some facts so others won't have to be exploited by M.P., again!
