If they thought GMG was being shady, then they must really not like the place I bought it from which was cheaper yet.

I see GMG has it at 59.99 now...hmm.

So a company is not allowed to generate business by lowering prices and eating a little bit of the cost in favor of volume? Like I said before there is some info we don't have.

Thats a great idea. However gmg never said they were doing that and this whole thing only came out after cdp said something. Kind of dumb to do something like this for marketing reason and then never disclose that you are doing it. No?

Not really. Remember CDPR says they get no money from the keys. GMG has never been in the business of selling stolen keys. So I do not believe CDPR on this one. They were paid for the keys but I am betting they are trying to price fix and control where you can buy their product more than before.

Companies like activision fix the prices of their games so companies are not allowed to discount them. That's why a CoD that is 6 months old is still $60.

I think that's basically the case. Most likely because CDPR is firmly against DRM, they included market controls in the contract with their other parties rather than the typical software region locks. Whoever GMG bought these keys from likely is in breach of that contract (probably region lock) which is why they won't say where they got them and the Reds know it they just can't prove it yet.

GMG is probably betting they can lock in a profit since CDPR doesn't want to take the PR hit by deactivating those keys. If I'm right sucks for the Reds, they either take the price difference hit knowing GMG and others will try the same on Cyberpunk in the future or risk aliening gamers by deactivating the keys.

So they bought a bunch of keys and sold them at a loss but didnt want to tell anyone they were doing it because? The whole point of doing something like that would be to tell people about it for goodwill/marketing/buzz/whatever.

Do you not understand how loss leading works? They are a well known and respected seller. The price was advertised everywhere. This is normal and they generally have the lowest prices on keys of most sites even beating steam sales many times.

They take the hit on one upcoming popular game, and in trade will sell other games at a profit (that are generally still lower priced than elsewhere) that you wouldn't have though to buy before. It is no different than what big box stores do to get people in the store. They don't advertise that is what they are doing. It is just common knowledge. Consumers don't ask questions, they go to what is cheaper.

For all we know they've been buying up keys on ebay and are reselling them at a marginal loss (they already stated they are losing money on them) and any key that is being bought up and resold CDPR has already got their money for.

But do we know they are? If not then what's the point?

Not sure why this one has people lined up behind a business without anything other than knowing one side is upset over something. Seems pretty unreasonable to me. It's like some folks are protesting something but don't really know why.
