PSA: Amazon has the worst run forums on the internet

There are already reasons to not want to patronize Amazon, despite how great a shopping experience it often is. It's amazing 52% of their US customers buy Prime ($99/year).

Those include bad labor practices and tax avoidance (google either for the details).

But their forums are the worst run on the internet.

Recently, they had a mass ban, and no one can make any sense of who was targeted. Some deserved it, and others are described by everyone as a shock and not justified at all.

But it gets better.

1. The first ban is permanent

Can't remember seeing that anywhere unless for egregious behavior like death threats

2. When they ban someone they also delete every post they ever made - for years.

Never heard of that before.

3. A ban on the discussion forums also bans people from posting to product reviews

The bans they did, everyone affected who reported with alt accounts, confirmed it was the same form letter with one word to justify it - that they had made a "spiteful" post.

Funny how many people suddenly decided at the same moment to make a spiteful post. Even the account someone said was just banned they hadn't used in years.

Seems to me this is arbitrary, irresponsible, capricious customer abuse.

I don't care for it, so now looking to buy from Newegg, Best Buy, and others. After having Kindle Fire, Kindle reader, Amazon Echo, Fire TV, and Prime for years.

Amazing how willing they are to destroy goodwill with such a pointless behavior.

I suspect you will come crawling back within a week.
Just wait until you need a Prime item in 2 days.

It sounds like their forums came under fire for breeding negative comments, which could negatively affect sales.
It was probably an easy decision to wipe clean any negativity.

I heard they banned the users only because they currently don't have enough drones to do multiple synchronized drone strikes. After reading the OP's spiteful post I'm not getting within 1000 feet of the OP. 😛

I'm not surprised I didn't know Amazon had forums. Their website navigation is awful and has been awful for a long time.

I too had no idea Amazon forums existed.

I've always gotten good service, prices are reasonable, shipping is almost always very fast since I have Prime. I am a happy customer.

The fact that a feature I've never used (their forums) is allegedly not working well has no effect on my life.

Amazon has forums...?

Wait, Amazon has forums?

What on earth is discussed in Amazon forums and WHY?

Had no idea they had forums...or why I would want to use them.

WTF? I didn't know they had forums. Do they have a lifer bathroom there too?

Am I the only person that didn't know Amazon had forums?
No.
