PSA: Amazon Changes their Super Saver Shipping Requirement to $35

I live near a fulfillment center. It's hit and miss. Sometimes I get the feeling that they're holding the order just so I don't get the 1-2 day shipping for free. Most of the time it probably comes within 2-3 business days.

They do that even with Prime. If I had to guess, Amazon prioritizes orders based upon estimated shipping time between the distribution center and the destination and their guaranteed delivery date. Technically, I can't fault them for it since they aren't obligated to get an item to me earlier, but I guess it just feels a little slimy knowing that they probably could get the item to me earlier.

EDIT:

I always use my Chase Amazon points for statement credit.

That's what I do as well. It's pretty much useless to use it anywhere else unless you get a boost for using chase points there. By using the "free money" on your statement, you essentially get to use that and gain another x% points.

I broke down and bought prime a couple months ago. I really don't buy enough to justify it but when you need it it's damn handy. Amazon prime video sucks though and should not really even be considered in the equation imo.
The free video on amazon prime is completely 100% worthless.
Some of us have patience...some of you need some.
Patience is something that apathetic people tout as a virtue.

Bunch of finks and now they are charging sales tax (at least for NJ, not sure about the rest of the states) .. It is now almost easier for me to go into the local Barnes & Noble to pickup my new books. This way I avoid shipping fees. (I always try to bundle as much as I can at Amazon so the shipping is free)

I got a $25 Super Saver Shipping order in just before this started.

SlickFillers has some work to do.

I wouldn't say completely worthless, but if Amazon took away the 2-day shipping and wanted to charge $79/year ONLY for Prime Video, I'd drop the sub for sure. It does have some decent material but most of it is also available on Netflix as well.

Yup. How it they probably wanted to word it:

This.
If you're deciding whether or not to get Amazon Prime, assume that the streaming video does not exist. It's crap.

While they do have Star Trek and Stargate available through it, you'd best prepare for low quality transfers (interlacing artifacts, of all things), and there's a point about 20-22 minutes into any video where Amazon's video server abruptly piddles all over the floor and runs out of the room crying. The video stops and says it's buffering, then says there's a problem with the stream, and it won't continue beyond that. I need to Ctrl+F5 the page and restart the video manually to get it to work again. Almost every video does this, and even on two different PCs.
Or maybe it's Flash that's at fault. Shortly before Flash 10 was released, Adobe replaced their QC department with a bag of gravel.

I've watched about 40 episodes of Stargate SG-1 on my iPad over the past few weeks without a single hiccup, so maybe it is Flash.

Not a big deal, while I did let my Prime membership expire a few days ago and was hoping to use the $25, I'll live.

I did notice that Amazon charges tax (Texas) on the shipping price too. $10 item + $5 shipping = $15 then tax that combined price. Any other times before I did orders from other companies, no tax on the shipping cost, just product. I wonder if Texas changed something or Amazon made a mistake.

If you order from a third party seller then there's no sales tax. No brainer. Way to go, 'Zon.

Everyone owes Sales Tax for all their orders, it's just a matter of if the retailer has an obligation to collect for the state.

In other words, retards like microAmp should be paying their Amazon order sales tax on your yearly taxes. But something tells me you don't report that...

At the very least, they should probably avoid bragging about not paying it on the internet...

When I ordered the parts for my new computer this month, most everything shipped through prime's free shipping. I had to opt for the Tiger Direct reseller on amazon though for the MB since there was a 1-2 month delay if I ordered the Prime option. This added another $20-28 for shipping, and on top of that, it was Ground shipping. Funny thing though, as I was tracking the packages, both packages arrived into anchorage on the same day and time.

The prime package had 2 day shipping so that was sent out for delivery. The Tiger Direct package didn't. I even called to have it held so I can pick it up that day, but come to find out they wouldn't release it until the following day. btw, it was UPS.
