I got a PS3 for Christmas w/a copy of GoW3 and Gran Turismo 5. What else should I get for it?

I already have on my "To Get" list:
Enslaved
Uncharted 1/2
Heavy Rain

Games that I'm not interested in:
CoD : Blops
Little Big Planet 1/2

Any other exclusives I missed?

Thanks!

MGS4
Demon's Souls
Infamous

Including your list, I think those are the only exclusives worth playing. And I say this with a PS3 being the only console I own.

The exclusives that I once owned then sold/traded: Resistance 1 and 2 are terrible, ugly games with outdated mechanics. Killzone 2 is a screen tearathon with awful shooting and the weapons just "feel" wrong. White Knight Chronicles is an uninspired mess. Motorstorm is alright if you like brainless arcade racing but it somehow feels stripped down and bare. Valkyria Chronicles actually seems to be a fairly deep strategy RPG but I can't stand anime and the pre-teen main characters grated on my nerves.

Demon's Souls
Valkryai Chronicles (screw viivom plus the two main characters are 22 and 19)
Demon's Souls
Ratchet and Clank series is also good
Demon's Souls
Get MGS4 only if you played and liked 1-3
Oh, and Demon's souls ;)

For PSN:
Pixeljunk Monster
Pixeljunk Shooter

These are only the exclusives, or multiplatform games too?

on VK, yes, screw VIIVO. Its not even that anime-esque, influenced? sure...but to dismiss it on art style influence is ridiculous

as for his other comments - most seem to be his personal preference of things 'not feeling' right. The only thing he mentioned is that resistance's controls were clunky.

i haven't played those games, so i have no idea - but go see if PSN has demos at the very least and try them out. What stylistically doesn't work or 'feel right' for one person may be fine for another person.

Flower (PSN game).

It'd probably be better if you can give us some examples of games you've played and liked (regardless of platform) so we can make better suggestions. A lot of people like Flower, but you may not care for it if you want a good plot and lots of action. It's more about the immersion and experience, plus a really smooth soundtrack.

There really weren't many "pre-teen" characters in VC. The main characters are all adults, aren't they?

I'm not really into JRPGs, and while I prefer to play FPS on the computer, if a console exclusive is good I'll play it on the console.

I completely forgot about MGS4, I should've put that one on my "Not Interested" list, same as the splinter cell games, I don't really like stealth-based games.

I mainly prefer story-driven games, which is why I don't play multiplayer. I'm also skipping multi-platform games because I have an Xbox 360 and I honestly prefer it. I mainly got the PS3 to play GT5, but I figured while I have it I might as well get some of the other games that are generally accepted as "Top Tier" games.

Then you should take Enslaved off your list.

Anyways, given what you've added I'll third the recommendation for Valkyria Chronicles. Story centric, but without the typical JRPG gameplay (it's more of a SRPG).

Demon's Souls is a pretty niche game. I'd rent it or try a demo (if there is one, I haven't looked) before buying it.

If you're a baseball fan, MLB The Show is a must-have. By far the best baseball sim franchise right now. The '11 version is out in early March, so I'd just wait for that.

My two favorite games since I've had my PS3 have been Uncharted 2 and Fallout 3.

I got Fallout New Vegas as a Christmas gift but haven't tried it yet.

I know everyones nuts over blops for the multiplayer but I'm really not that into multiplayer/death match on any game but do find the FPS/Campaign aspect of the game to be fun so far.

inFamous, definitely! Also, MLB 10 (or wait for '11) if you're a baseball fan.

Don't forget God of War 3 (and God of War collection). Though you could probably finish GOW3 during a rental, its still an amazing game :).

I rented Uncharted via my Blockbuster subscription and finished it in a few days. Very good game but possibly not great. However, I'm playing Uncharted 2 right now (came with the PS3) and it is seriously epic. Leagues better than the original. It is an especially amazing game to someone like me who hasn't seen what a modern game is capable of.

Demon's Souls is NOT a niche game. It so hard that most people give up immediately because they think they will be running through Bolatarian Palace over and over again, and think the game is repetitive, but had they just spent a little more time with it, they would be enjoying the best game made for the PS3, and one of the best games ever made period. When you get through a level on DS, you really feel like you've done something.

The best part is, even if you get through it once, chances are you screwed up CT and WT so bad, that you will be spending NG+ and NG++ fixing it. Not to mention screwing up your item upgrades etc.

AND FUCK THE VALLEY OF DEFILEMENT!

I just went through the same thing Christmas.
I picked up:
Valkyria Chronicles(been waiting a long time to play this game)
MGS 4
Uncharted 1
MAG
God of War III

All of them with the exception of GoW III were only $20-$30 on Amazon.

I didn't realize Enslaved was multiplatform. I will probably get it on PS3 anyway cause I gave my Xbox360 to my dad.

Valkyria Chronicles looks interesting despite being JRPG style, I'll probably pick it up.

Thanks, ya'll.

If you like horror movies (and especially if you liked the ALIEN series) then pick up Dead Space. If you have a really good 5.1 surround sound system - crank it up and play Dead Space with the lights turned off for an experience you will not forget.

These threads always pop up a lot after the holidays. :)

Welcome to the family! Here are a few recommendations for ya:

God of War Collection: In my opinion this is a must buy for anyone who is a fan of action or action/adventure type games. The price you pay for the sheer amount of gameplay is a great deal. I love the story, the action and production quality all around. Once you're done play GoW3!

Metal Gear Solid 4: It's heavy. It's long. It's cutscenes are long (and not nearing the rumored 90 minute length), but if you head into the game knowing what you're in for then you should enjoy it. Plus, it's the best gameplay/controls in the series.

Pixeljunk Monsters, Pixeljunk Shooter and perhaps Pixeljunk Eden: All around the $10 mark. Check them out on youtube to see what the gameplay is like. My personal favorite is Pixeljunk Monster because I'm a sucker for tower defense games and their spin on it is great!

...more suggestions:

- Demon's Souls
- Uncharted 1 & 2
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Flower
- Echochrome
- Super Stardust HD
- inFamous
- 3D Dot Game Heroes
- Joe Danger
- Flower
- Little Big Planet
- Demon Souls
- Motorstorm 1 & 2
- Uncharted 1 & 2
- Heavy Rain
- Yakuza 3
- Untold Legends Dark Kingdom

Hehe, same here, and it was 10 bucks brand spanking new!

Anyway, I got my PS3 about a year ago and the only exclusive game I got and actually like is Uncharted. I got Resistance but, IMO, I really dont see how this thing was released. It looks antiquated and the story line is really bad. MGS4 was a POS imo, looks good but the video sequences are so long and boring that I forgot what the hell the game is about. I played GOW3 and will probably get it when it is 15-20 bucks. Flower was a relaxing download and is worth a look. LBP is awesome if you can spend some time with it.

I played it on PC too, bought it again for $10 on the recent deal and it plays much better on the PS3 + gamepad and good sound system.

So far what I bought since getting PS3 slim, some older titles Ive played but again I find is more fun on PS3 than PC.

Uncharted 2
NBA 2K11
Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time
God of War 3
Dead Space
Heavy Rain
Bayonetta

This may sound odd but I am really enjoying Demon's Souls but didn't really like GOW or DMC. At first glance they kind of seem similar, but I think DS has more depth and gameplay flows better. I finally lost all my souls yesterday before I even spent them, managed to fall down a pit while going to get my first dead body. Pretty frustrating to lose 6k souls but I've played games with bigger losses for death. People are quick to forget that back in the day, there were no continues. This game is easy compared to Super Mario Bros.

If you like shooters, Killzone 2 is pretty neat. I call it the Gears of the PS3, and I'd have a hard time saying which game is better. Resistance was bland.
