PS2 Value

I don't use my slim PS2 any more and was thinking of selling it. But after looking at prices it's not even worth the time to gather it all up, post an ad, package it and mail it to someone. Might as well keep it as a DVD player.

Kind of funny that back in the day, people were scrambling to get these.

I've been trying to sell mine on CS for more than a year, +20 or so games (PS2 +PS1), controllers, memory cards, etc. pre-slim model.

people won't even offer $50-75, it seems.

only reason i keep my PS2 is for Rockband and Guitar hero. every now and then my friends will bring it over.

i ahve a huge stack of PS2 games but i play them on my PS3.

nope. depending on the games i woul pay $20 though heh but i enjoy the PS1 and PS2 games more then the PS3 ones...so far

I thought the same thing a month ago. Figured I'd get rid of my PS2 for some extra cash, figuring I could make ~$90-100 considering it's modded for swapmagic, several games, 2 controllers and memory cards... but then I noticed people selling them for $40-50, and well, F that.

I'd rather keep it, than sell it for so little, especially considering my PS3 isn't BC.

and yeah, ps1 and ps2 games are by-far more fun than what's currently available for ps3...but that's due more to quantity. Of course, games have sucked more overall from year to year, so maybe that's it.

seems single ps2 games go for ~5-10 on eBay or CL (depending on game, of course), so no way in hell I'd actually sell this for less than 50 with 27 games and the unit, which is $99 new.

I'm still catching up on the PS2 JRPGs I missed while only playing PC games. There a few new JPRGs being released like Persona 4.

Sony sold 117K PS2s in the US in May, not bad since the 360 only sold 175K

You can get a decent price in the FS/FT forum, but donating to a children's hospital is a great idea (see you in November for Child's Play 2009 )

Well, no childrens hospitals near by. The games are possibly to mature for kids too.
I did find a site that takes donations for soldiers in Iraq. I emailed them to see if they wanted used systems/games.

I sold mine on Craigslist when MGS4 came out. The PS2, 11 games, 2 memory cards, 2 PS2 controllers, original cables, original box, all for 75 bucks.

God of War 1 is in my unplayed stack, along with Persona 3 FES, FF X, and Xenosaga III. Hopefully I'll get to it before Dragon Age comes out

I'm also playing Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando which still looks good on my 50" DLP.

The other great thing about a PS2 is a lot of these games are $15-20 new instead of $30-60. Or $10 shipped used on eBay.

Heh yep. It's not worth the trouble.

Like my Seagate 250gb hard drive. It started giving me problems 1.5 years ago. I've retried it several times and although it somewhat works, something is wrong with it and I cant' trust any data on it.

Even with the 5 year warranty, I have yet to RMA it. I'm just going to pick up a 1.5 TB soon.

I'd give it to someone for free to RMA themselves but the purchasers needs to be the one to do it I think.

Same with my 7800GT. Works fine, but I have zero use for it. Not worth it to post an ad and ship it out when it might only fetch $30. And my old Opteron.

i'm really on the fence of selling my PS3. it's like $500 just sitting there and not being used... i got SF4 for it, but that's coming out to PC very soon too

Same here, its a great media center and gaming machine but I dont use it enough. Mostly I just like it for streaming movies so i dont have to bother with discs or flash drives. Only game I really play is NBA 2K9. I agree on the PS2 though, might as well just keep it as a dvd player.

i got my GF a laptop that has an HDMI plug that goes straight into the tv w/o hassle when we wanna watch a movie. not to mention at home my PC is hooked straight up to the TV as well to stream movies. there really is no use for it. and theres no video game out i really want to play for ps3 either. i got MGS4 still sealed in the box, it looks way too complicated for me and i'd have no patience for it either lol.
