I'll be picking this one up. Looks allot like a more violent version of Assassins Creed. First review I've seen up:

http://www.ps3informer.com/pla...type-review-010433.php

It's for PS3 but it's better than nothing.

Unlocked and stickied for 1 day. Be warned, any carry over of the discussion about piracy from the other thread, will earn you a week off- PC Gaming Moderator- DAPUNISHER

if you know it's for PS3 then why did you choose to put in in PC gaming and not console gaming?

It's also being released for the PC. So far there are no PC reviews. This gives a review of the game play and some more details on the story line. When a PC version is reviewed people can get details on the control break down and graphics at that time.

 gotcha, I didn't know it was for PC but from your OP it sounded like it was console only

It's been leaked to pirate sites already so I guess we'll have a bunch of impressions from people who "just tried it today" very soon ;)

You just described Crackdown pretty well, and I loved Crackdown.

I thought GTAIV (and also GTAIII) was so boring, maybe Prototype will do it for me, I'd like a demo of it, but it looks fun from what I've seen.

You really have to wonder? I can't remember the last multi-platform game I played that wasn't a damned consolized wreck that clearly was not designed with even basic PC gamer needs in mind.

Well regardless of how they got it, I hope to hear from people about this one. Looks cool - my biggest fears are that it will be:
1) a poor console port
2) too repetitive or "braindead"

Hopefully it will be excellent, in which case I'll be happy to purchase.

Also, does it have any kind of bizarro DRM scheme?

I went ahead and got the game off steam. I had a friend raving about how great it was so I took the plunge.

It is a high action game. There are very few moments of standing around waiting to do something. A lot of the game consists of running up wall, jumping from building to building and ripping apart the enemy. It is really a lot of fun. I thought that is all there would be to it but there is actually a lot of options on how you handle a situation. You can grab a soldier in an alley and consume him allowing you to know everything he knows and assume his form, which is pretty cool. The game even suggest that you visit military bases often to consume soldiers for their knowledge. You have to be careful doing it, since if you do it in plain sight all hell breaks loose.

Graphics are good , especially considering what they have to portray. The city is fully open, no loading between buildings , you can run down the streets for miles if you like. I never had a problem with frame rates or slowdowns which really surprised me with everything that was going on . I had 5-6 mutant creatures after me and about 20 soldiers also after me and it never made a hiccup.

The mutant AI is very good. Almost too good. I was trapped in a warehouse trying to kill them off and using everything from sprints and jumps to wall climbing to stay ahead of them and they followed me, never losing pathing to me.

Options menu is the standard console to pc layout. Options are set as low medium high and AA can be set to off/ on 4xaa etc .

Controls - if you have a 360 controller I would use it. I can't imagine this game on a keyboard and mouse. It just has too many controller specific actions like the longer you hold a button the more an action charges up, double tapping buttons performs new actions and actions that rely on how hard a button is pushed. I tried it with a keyboard first and the controller is definitely the way to go.

The bad:
People on the streets are damn annoying. You can kill one soldier and for blocks away all the people continue running screaming like they all saw the act.

Your character while walking down streets automatically pushes and sometimes hits people you walk pass. I'm trying to stay hidden and he is doing stuff to make me standout.

The games physics are great in some areas and terrible in others. Large objects like cars, tanks, move around in collisions like they are made of paper with no weight to them . If I bump into a car, the car shouldn't move like superman pushed it. I think the developers need to read up on the equal but opposite force part of physics.

The pc I am using to play is:
Q6600 not overclocked
4GB ram
8800GTS 640MB video card
Windows 7 beta 7100
Realtek onboard sound

I did not have any technical problems which is good for a console to pc port.

I used steam so it works like any other steam title, nothing odd.
I posted my review in the other thread.

I have it, it's alright. Gets repetitive, and there are some ungodly tough difficulty spikes that seem out of place, and then it just becomes barely a challenge quickly afterwards. If you've ever played Incredible Hulk: Total Destruction on the XBox 1, you'll immediately notice how similar this game is to that. That's not really a bad thing, but just noting that's the case.

I would probably go like 7.5/10. Infamous was a much more satisfying experience, but for those without a PS3, this is definitely a game to check out.

I'm playing it on PC and I love it. I don't have too hard of a time using the combos or devastator attacks so if you're fast with the keys you should be ok. I could go into a lot more detail but I gotta get back to playing it. I find it very hard to end without first completing the mission I'm on.

the ground spike is an awesome weapon in the arsenal......

Pretty much.

Test Drive Unlimited wasnt too bad, neither was GRID. Aside from racing games I cant think of any.

I dunno, GRID ran horribly on my computer, and I can play crysis at 1680x1050 at medium settings at 30fps.

Sorry to hear that. But I dont think an 8800 GT was ever supposed to be good enough for GRID.
I didnt buy it. I got a free copy with my Radeon 4870. No problems with that card.

I also had an 8800 GTX for a while and I can honestly say its far weaker than a Radeon 4870. Not being able to play it well doesnt mean the game was poorly optimized or ported. It just means you dont have enough horsepower. And you cant really compare it to most other games in terms of performance.

So far, not a bad game, it's like GTA4 but your guy on steroids. Having real fun throwing people and cars all over the place, did a few missions, but mostly I have just messed around to try and gain more points to upgrade all my abilities. Glide is the most important thing for anybody starting the game, soon as you have the points upgrade. Nothing like going to the tallest building and gliding across the city. Love the claws, slicing people up like freddy krueger is a blast.

The controls are not that bad, I had a hard time getting to some of the really high blue orbs that are on top of the points of some of the really high buildings. Once you upgrade some of your movements, they are much easier.

I disagree with you. The 8800gt is still a pretty good card. Top of the line? No. But it's still very capable even today. And I'm sorry, if I can play the holy grail of PC Gaming today at a playable framerate, then I'd hope to be able to play GRID. Yes, it was poorly optimized. Every game that I've played recently has played at good framerates, except for GRID. Maybe they've fixed this issue, but I don't feel like going back to it. (Besides, I caved and got rid of my pc copy and got one for the PS3 instead).

Back on topic. my computer ran Prototype really well at 1920x1200 and medium settings. Perhaps I'll try a lower resolution and crank the settings up and see how that works.
