I messed with putty for an hour before giving up. I couldn't connect to ATV2. :'(

Got it today and played around with it. I love the device. The device is tiny. I was shocked when I finally saw how small it was. It couldn't be simpler to setup and use. Plug in and play. Wifi and Netflix work great. I did the jailbreak and installed XBMC. Tested couple of movie streams and it played beautifully without any issue or pause. I did have a problem playing subtitle. XBMC kept locking up when I tried to load subtitle file.

Now I want to add AppleTV2 to every TV in the house.

This. I got one on sale for $70 and it's amazing! I already want two more for the other bedrooms. This thing is great!

Yea I had to order one too. Blech. I still think it's good as is, but I don't want to have to re-encode all my videos, so I'm waiting until that comes in.

pretty cool so far w/o jailbreak. itunes + iPad + home sharing = awesome. Look at videos on ipad, send to TV.


Anyone know what affect JB has on air play? Also, anyway to get hulu on this thing?

Airplay should be fine but Hulu hack no longer works.

I finally got Plex installed and working. But I'm disappointed. While it looks pretty and is easy to setup once you get it installed on your ATV2, that's about the only thing it has over XBMC at this point. It does use ATV interface which is nice but no subtitle support kills it for me. Playback of videos on XBMC is smoother and less buggy for me than Plex. Plex really just feels like alpha/early beta at this point compared to XBMC. I'm sticking with XBMC until Plex matures.

FFS, for anyone setting up XBMC download majestic and setup a UPnP server and call it a day.

FUCK I just spent like an hour troubleshooting this shit. FUCK.
