"unkown racing game"? Hardly, its just not been released over here yet, other than for consoles. It will be soon. Its VERY popular over seas, and the demo was very popular everywhere when it came out. Just because you dont know what it is, doesnt mean its not popular.

Max Payne? Yeah, that was a bigger game than CoD. I got my new GeForce3, then Max Payne the first day it was out. Could I play it? Nope. It crashed when loading a level with a GeForce3, and there was nothing you could do about it.

There are many others, but why are we even talking about this? Both have had huge bug problems, saying otherwise is just ignorance. So is saying NV hasnt screwed up since the GeForce1.

Yes, unknown racing game.
Never heard of it.

And could care less about overseas crap.

I play World of Warcraft, not Lineage. This is America.

I bought Max Payne when it first came out, I never had a problem with my GF3. Seriously, I played MP on a GF3 very early on in MPs release. I loved that game.
Worked fine, fast and smooth too.

Next time I have a problem with any of my games I'll let you know.

ATI's total driver problems since their first 3D accelerator is 20X what NV's is since even the Edge3D. Its not comparable.

The only way you played Max Payne with a G3, is if you got the patch the released a few days after the release fixing it. The first few days was unplayable, search about it, and you will see its true.

Overseas crap? Uh, there are a lot of good overseas games. FYI, people overseas have video cards too, so it affects them. I dont like mmorpgs, but I dont go calling them crap, because people like different things.

I will agree ATi has had more driver bugs overall, their first cards were horrible. But this isnt yesteryear, its today. And both companies have great drivers overall. Sometimes there is a big bug, but often times its fixed pretty fast, either via hotfix, or beta driver.

Sure... 2x6600GT > 6800GT. I'm not believing it. Oh I see, no AA, so best case for SLI low end cards...

I believe the max payne bug was fixed inside of 30 days. There is a small difference between 30 days and 150, or 700+ for sacrifice.

I wouldnt call max payne any bigger than CoD, they were both popular titles but neither was a market leader.

I would call it bigger, you could at least play CoD. You couldnt even load MP. CoD was a longer standing issue though, so I can see how it could be considered worse. Flatouts problem wasnt fixed for months either. Both a patch, and new beta driver fixed the problem. Both were bad, and both are well in the past though. So why are we even talking about this? Current drivers are great from both ATi and NV.

BFG brought up current nvidia drivers as being "the worst drivers in exsistence". I chimed in saying i had 0 problems short of simcity 4 which is a problem with the game, not the drivers.

This just can't be the same BFG who has always championed high res AA/AF! What have you done with BFG, impostor! BFG would never say setting lower than what are possible are "good enough".

after advocating 2x 6800NU sli, your credivbility is shattered around here

Whats wrong with 6800U SLI again? Its the fastest graphics platform out right now. If youve got the budget, there is no reason not to get it.

Maybe we are just running different games.
Yup. For example if you had been running any Unreal 2 based game (Unreal 2, UT2003/UT2004) with an A64 system and SP2 you would have most certainly had the DEP issue (about a 50% chance of instant system reboot after quitting the game). The bug cropped up after 61.77 and wasn't fixed until 71.xx. That's about eight months to get fix for a serious and reproducible problem.

Read carefully: I said beta drivers. Those drivers are so bad I won't even mention their problems. One set I tried wouldn't even load half of the OpenGL games I threw at it.

but when blockbuster hits like Call of Duty dont work? And for so long?
See the DEP issue above. I'd class UT2003/UT2004 at least as blockbuster as COD.

I said sli of 2x 6800NU - it performs slower then a single 6800GT and is the worst value you could imagine...... now you ask who in their right mind would do such a thing, good question.....

I think very few people around the world were foolish enough to waste money on 6800NU SLI setup - it's just doesn't makes any sense at all. It's even rare to see hardware sites reviewing such a thing because even these sites which regularly try out unconventional configurations have figured that almost no one would be interested in such a poor setup therefore it would be a waste to even discuss it.

Yet you have found a way to not only bring it up for the first time in this thread, but also mention it 3 times in less than 12 hours.

I did not have this issue in UT2004 with my FX5600
Probably because you don't have a processor capable of hardware DEP functionality. I'm also guessing you were not running SP2.

Correct, both of those things are useless 😉

Edit: for some reason i didnt think about DEP causing the problem.
