Gallup: 57% Say U.S. Won't Win in Iraq
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp..._display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002345019
NEW YORK A report on a new Gallup poll released today shows that President Bush approval rating on his handling of Iraq is now at 32% -- tied for the lowest rating Gallup has measured.

The survey, taken April 7-9, also shows that 57% of Americans think the United States will not win in Iraq.

In a surprise, the new poll found that 44% of Republicans now back withdrawing some or all troops from Iraq. The number for all Americans, 64%, is higher, but the fact that better than 4 in 10 Republicans back this idea is notable. Indepedents are tracking much closer to Democrats on all issues related to Iraq.

In another finding, 57% of Americans say it was a mistake to send troops to Iraq, while 42% say it was not. Since December 2005, either a plurality or majority of Americans have said it was a mistake.

Well, Bush has joined the 30's (39%) for the first time in Rasmussen's poll. Now in the 30's in EVERY poll!

Sunday April 16, 2006--Thirty-nine percent (39%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That's the lowest level of approval ever measured by Rasmussen Reports.

Sixty percent (60%) disapprove of Bush's job performance, the highest level ever recorded.

The President earns approval from 49% of entrepreneurs, 38% of private sector workers and 37% of government employees.

Why does it take so long for the Pollsters to sync up???

Won't be synch'ed up for very much longer, as all of the other polls will be dipping into the 20's pretty soon.

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said "I never thought I would miss Nixon." I'm old enough to remember Watergate very well, and I was struck with a sudden realization that the bumper sticker was right. Nixon >> Bush

Those Republican shills whistling past the graveyard might want to remember what the Federal Reserve has been up to these last several months. By the election we may have ourselves a nice little recession. In any event, the housing boom is already becoming a fond memory. Where is the good news going to come from to save the Republicans? Are they going to catch Osama on November 1? Does anyone expect Iraq to get better (before November!?). Will gasoline be cheaper? (Certainly not if we continue to lay plans to nuke the Iranians!) Apparently the Republican plan is to flog gay marriage, flag burning, etc. in an attempt to energize the base. Going to this well one more time is pretty convincing evidence (if any more were needed) that the Republicans are now officially bankrupt, intellectually. Of course, the same could be said of the Democrats with considerable justice, but if both parties are bankrupt the electorate ought to come to the realization that they need to divide the government (such as, Republican president and Democratic congress or visa versa) to keep the idiocy in line.

Illinois is below 30%.

Hell yea, makes me proud to be an Illinois native, and now I live in MA, where it's even lower. And before any of you get on me about Ryan, I never voted for the gas bag, and he got what he deserves. I hope he and tommy delay are bunk buddies at the lockup.

Rasputten tried to pull a funny on their website earlier where Bush miraculously jumped to 52% popularity (with 59% disapproval)...they pulled it soon afterwards.

Worst President Ever?
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/profil...266&has-player=true&version=6.0.8.1024

Here's my favorite part:
Now, though, George W. Bush is in serious contention for the title of worst ever. In early 2004, an informal survey of 415 historians conducted by the nonpartisan History News Network found that eighty-one percent considered the Bush administration a "failure." Among those who called Bush a success, many gave the president high marks only for his ability to mobilize public support and get Congress to go along with what one historian called the administration's "pursuit of disastrous policies." In fact, roughly one in ten of those who called Bush a success was being facetious, rating him only as the best president since Bill Clinton -- a category in which Bush is the only contestant.

The worst president ever piece was very well done. Nicely catalogued Bush's failures, although there was admittedly a slightly liberal tinge to the discussion. I've always been appalled at what Bush has done to discredit conservatives. Since when are massive deficits a conservative policy? Pre-emptive war? Runaway spending? Wiretapping and denial of civil liberties? Detention without trial or judicial review? Asinine pork like the bridge to nowhere? Government intrusion (FEDERAL government intrusion at that) in matters such as the Terry Schiavo case which have always been outside government's purview? Whatever label you wish to put on Bush, I hope we would all agree that CONSERVATIVE is not correct. Eisenhower (who warned against the "military industrial complex," fought to balance the budget, and overruled Nixon's plans to give the French a nuclear weapon to use on the Viet Minh) was a CONSERVATIVE.

The biggest problem I had with Rolling Stone is that I thought the historians were too hard on Herbert Hoover, whose policies -- tho' altogether too anemic -- were often correct as far as they went. Not that I rank Hoover highly, but I don't see where he is in contention for the worst ever.

What What----where is that huge resurrange in popularity now that J. Bolton is the chief of Staff? Surely any fool can see those rearranged deck chairs on the Titanic look so much better.

Well, how about 32%? Disapproval is almost double the approval rating. If RealClearPolitics was done today, he'd have an average of 35.8% (I think that's a record average low for Bush).

True, its only one notch lower, but this makes it the lowest ever in multiple polls.

his approval ratings are well earned. And anyone who defends him and says he's a good president is obviously out of touch with America.

Also, unless the dems come out on top in november, Bush doesn't have anything to worry about. he's gone in two and a half years. so what does he care about approval ratings. it's not like americans are going to riot or defend their rights or anything.

Looks like it's getting worse for the decider

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush's approval ratings have sunk to a personal low, with only a third of Americans saying they approve of the way he is handling his job, a national poll released Monday said.

Owwwie, I fell off my bike.

No no, it's more like "Hey look at me I have political capital, the people love- WAH!"

Never do coke and drive, he should know that by now. Great picture
