Proof to what browser is the fastest

Why do these results matter any more than actually browsing webpages and seeing how fast it feels? If anything these don't matter at all.

^^ Doing what I said above is how I determined IE to be faster for me than FF.

Linux/Firefox 1.0.2 - 23.11
Linux/Opera 7.54 - 6.85

Not sure why I get such horrible results under Firefox. It could be that one of the many extensions I have installed is causing problems.
