is it possible that OS can make a difference as well?

I did a couple tests between linux and windows on various machines. I don't think the browser even makes much of a difference. It seems to be "What handles java the best" type situation. CPU, Connection, OS seem to make a difference. Browser is hit or miss.

FF 1.0
many tabs over several windows, EAC ripping in the background, FB2K playing MP3s...
14.14s, 14.92s, and 15.59s results.
So, 1: there is probably about a 10% margin of error.
2: not bad, beating the average FF speed in all cases.

I don't have Opera, and am not going to use IE unless I absolutely MUST.

I've tweaked Firefox a bit. I don't know what effect that had on this test.

EDIT- Closed all of the other open windows in Firefox and turned off a few running programs:

With FF set to IE, it was 15.
With FF as FF, it was 14-15.

I think Opera is considerably faster... :p
