OK. its a console port, so yes, is the same graphics as the PS2 only in higher res. As far as gameplay, its a great game. Looks good on the PS2 cuz your playing thru your low res TV, on a highres conversion for the PC its gonna look better than the PS2 by far but being that it is on the "PC" pc gamers will say it looks like crap because we pc gamers mostly play games specifically made for the pc so when a console port comes along of course its gonna look like crap. its a port. The game is still great tho, IMO, and i'm nearly 40. :)

The Vice City PC port was much better.

I would take a fun game voer a good looking one anyday. The graphics are a huge plus though. If I had to pick from two games with equally good game play but one had better graphics than the other and I could only choose one I would get the one with better graphics.

I think the problem is that too many game companies stress graphics so much that they neglect gameplay.

You old people are still living in the past. :)

I'm 17, and I haven't played GTA: SA for PC yet, but I'll get it on Mon. or Tues. From what I've heard, the graphics ARE better than GTA: VC, and the draw distance is much better on the PC than the console versions. And the graphics won't be as bad as some of you say, even now when I play VC, the graphics definetly aren't bad enough to distract me.

have you guys seen how large the world is in gta:sa??!?!?! quit complaining, i played it on ps2, it has its fair share of glitches and might not look as good as gt4, or splinter cell, but the game is just fun and look at everything you can do... try driving from the south east corner of the map to the north west.... and you'll see how big the game is... the ps2 version doesnt have loading screens.... let that sink in.... the pc version looks much better than the ps2, but then its still not good enough, you do need power to render all that stuff that happens on screen, go have a shootout with your full gang(if you've even gotten this far...) and another full gang and you might notice a slowdown, heck you notice a slowdown on ps2 with a helicopter, you, and a cop car and a cop.... nothign wrong with that cause the game still has a lot to offer.... lets face it the game isnt realistic.... its close but it still maitains an acardy feel, if you want realism then go have fun with doom 3.... or tom clancy's rainbow 11 or whatever its at nowadays.... the pc version also caters to many platforms i am sure that game would run on a p3 1ghz with a gf 2 or gf3.... thats not bad for 3 year old technology maybe ever 4 years now....
what makes a game good in my opinion -> gameplay, graphics, story, does it stick to its realisticness or acardeness... i dont like nfsu2 casue its tryign to be real, you can change suspension settings and many things but it has no noticeable effect... wth is that.... san andreas has a target audience and if someone say theri target is males 15-25 then i guess i am/was their target but i am sure there are people older who play it, women who play it... broaden your horizons people.... and have fun... in the end gta:sa may not be your cup of tea.... its ok to say that to others... dont bad mouth a game of genre that you dont like....

You poor misguided youth. You missed so many great "old timer" games from back in the day. You and your fancy graphics! In my day we had to type! (old infocom games...Zork...Leather goddesses of phobos...old Sierra games....Those were the days) You had to use you imagination! :) Anyone remember the first Alone in the Dark game? That was one on the best! You youngins are so spoiled now. :)

I enjoy the game. Of course it's not on par graphically with the likes of Farcry, Doom 3 or Half-Life 2, but that's to be expected. It's definately not HORRIBLE though. At least not at 1600x1200 8xAA 16xAF... hopefully 1920x1200 8xAA 16xAF soon with my 2405FPW.

I loved GTA3, hated Vice City.

SA is bug-free and runs ok over here. Only problem Ive had is entering a restaurant whilst being shot at. I ended up spawning inside the restaurant dead.

Its got many features Im not used to. At times, its a drag but adding in some of the new features, it reduces the repetitiveness even if in basic terms you are still doing the same thing.

Proof that graphics don't make the game: STARCRAFT

Starcraft pwns. It's a 2d game that has literally changed the economic landscape of an entire country (South Korea). There are professional Starcraft teams there with professional gamers that get paid to play Starcraft. 3 national TV channels dedicated to broadcasting pro Starcraft matches. The highest sallary there now is to 'SlayerS_Boxer' for about $200,000/yr. It's been around for like 7 years and is still an immenslly popular game. In fact, it's the only game I play :p

We can only hope that fute GTA games will be made for the next gen consoles in which case expect a huge graphics tech leap.

SA is okay it is a mere distraction, not something I would commit a lot of time to.

SA is alright on the PS2, but if Rockstar doesn't build a new engine for the next-gen I'll be pissed off enough not to buy it.
