Progressives: Obama remarks are ‘condescending’

Pissing more and more of the country off every single day. Even the AP article I read about it said he sounded like he was talking down to/lecturing.

Conservatives don't like him, libertarians don't, progressives don't. It seems the only strong supporters he has left are the "Obama's gonna pay my mortgage" folks and Wall Street.

I, for one, don't think a that a dispassionate, intelligent rationally thinking leader is a bad thing. I guess I'm some kind of odd case though. Should we go back to aclone of the guy who's fun to pal around with at a BBQ, or maybe replace him with a snarky cheerleader?

BTW, Wall Street is funding the GOP big time this around-they didn't like restrictions on pocketing the bailout money and I haven't received a dime of mortgage money from the government.

If he wasn't so naive and stopped whoring himself out to liberals I'd agree with you.

I didn't see anything wrong with his speech. He was telling people like it is. He could have been a bit "peppier" in his speech to lighten the mood to be more one of a pep talk. Some people get butt hurt over nothing that is for sure.

I'd love to see you cite something, anything to support that assertion. Prove to us that you're more than a gorilla tossing handfuls of shit out of your cage.

The antique gun sale from South Korea because he was afraid 50s era M1 rifles would end up in "the wrong hands". The bullshit bow to the Emperor of Japan. His sending of $400,000,000.00 in aid to Gaza and alienation of Israel. Don't even get me started on health-care.

And that's just off the top of my head.

lol people are really mad that he showed respect to Japan, jeez, are you like a 50 gazillion year old Iwo Jima vet still hating "Japs" or something?

He didn't show respect, a deep bow like that shows submission in Japanese culture. We are the United States. We have many equals, but we submit to no one.

Also, a lot of other important people seem to grasp this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U6fL7Y4BZA

And don't bitch at the source or music. The pics are valid. Deal with it.

That's the best you can do to prove him a whore to liberals? Symbolism?

Seriously, all this crap about forms of greeting with foreign heads of state. It's got to be the stupidest set of complaints I've ever heard about any POTUS.

No it's not. That's why I mentioned Gaza aid and the antique rifle deal, which I note you haven't addressed yet. He basically just took the Brady campaign's line and ran with it, without even considering that maybe criminals don't want antique lead-weight long-guns that are impossible to conceal; and maybe responsible gun owners, museums and collectors might benefit from such a sale. The Gaza aid was as big a waste of money as anything. Why exactly are we pumping money into that shithole (of all places) with the deficit as it is? Financial issues aside he was simultaneously alienating Israel, our only real ally in the region. Seems to fit the lefty platform to me.

The bow just proved he's naive at best and a pussy at worst.

No stupider than the "Bush can't open a door" crap that was on the news for days. Symbolism matters. He represents the United States of America, or at least the majority that voted him in. To show either a lack of understanding or sheer submission like that is embarrassing and reflects on us.

Edit: Yes, I just quoted the same post twice. 😛

I would suspect as a progressive it hard to support and administration that is taking Bush policies to an extreme.

Nothing wrong with respect, you are the one making it a submission thing.
Of all the problems in the world...this? Really?

As usual the college repubs need to get laid, badly. What a sad life of a hater.

Can you read? Respect != Submission. The bow he made specifically shows submission. There is no alternate interpretation in Japanese culture.

Therefore Obama submitted, even if only symbolically, to the leader of a foreign power. Pardon me if I have a problem with that. And I love how everone's just ignoring the rest of my post and trying to label me as a GOP elephant rider. For the record, I hated Bush too. *awaits attempted defamation as a hater*

I'm sorry, but the issues you have raised, cumulatively, do not support your statement. Obama has done thousands of things while in office. I am under the impression that if he does not govern as a right winger on every single issue then he is some sort of liberal whore, or whatever it is you are trying to say.

So now you're accusing me of not properly analyzing every single position he's made on every single issue ever? This is a political debate on a web-forum, not a thesis. My point is that by and large he seems to do what his Liberal base tells him to do. Personally I have no desire for him to govern as a "winger" of any sort.

How does Wall Street like him? They're not donating to democrats anymore as lobbyists, and the banks aren't making any loans because they don't trust him.

All sides are pissed at him because he hasn't fixed the fucked up economy he inherited. If McPalin had been elected instead of Obama they'd be just as pissed at him.
