Apparently he forgot that in most Vampire mythos that the vampire must feed the human vampire blood AFTER the human has been drained to the brink of death in order for the human to rise as a vampire themselves.
The only major Vampire setting I'm aware of that doesn't require the human to drink vampire blood first is the Blade series. And even in the Blade series, if the vampire drains the human entirely, the human will die and not rise. Also, there is only a chance, albeit a good one, that the human will turn if the vampire leaves the human alive.
