<< The horsepower difference means NOTHING b/c the Highlander weights about 600 lbs less than the MDX. The Highlander wouldn't have any trouble dusting the MDX/Pilot😉
>>

0-60mph acceleration:
Acura MDX 240hp 3.5L V6 AWD: 8.1 seconds (Edmunds)

Toyota Highlander 220hp 3.0L V6 AWD: 8.8 seconds (Edmunds)

😉
>>

The MDX employs a 5-speed automatic, the Highlander uses a 4-speed auto. That extra gear can make all the difference.

The Honda Pilot has a 5-speed automatic...it might be the fastest of the three.

Depends on if the gearing is different, what the weight difference is, and if the Pilot actually comes with the full 240HP.

<< Its 3500-pound towing capacity means it could haul a pair of personal watercraft or small boat, but it won't challenge the more muscular body-on-frame SUVs. >>

this part of the article made me chuckle. 🙂

<< I demand a recount!! 🙂 Actually, number fluctuate wildly from publication to publication. C&D shows 8.4 for the MDX. >>

In that case, C&D also showed the Highlander's twin RX300 0-60mph at 9.0 seconds. (C&D LONG-TERM TEST: Lexus RX300(

Considering the Highlander got all 220hp from the RX300, you can basically expect the Pilot to get all 240hp from the MDX too since the Odyssey uses the same 3.5L and gets 240hp for the 2002 model.

Here's something interesting. Car and Driver - COMPARISON TEST: Designer-Ute Smackdown

1. Acura MDX (Pilot twin)
2. BMW X5 3.0i
3. Lexus RX300 (Highlander twin)
4. Mitsubishi Montero
5. Mercedes ML320

Not trying to diss your Highlander. It's a great SUV (again, I still think most Toyotas are overprice), but I think the Honda has the upper hand in value. 🙂

The Pilot looks ok, just that. So I'll say about it the same that I say about most of the outrageously expensive/overpriced cars they call SUVs: if you offered me one for like $4000, I'd buy it. Otherwise, no.
