Wild looking motor

looks like a jet engine sideways or something 😕

With the Honda nameplate I know it will be first class all the way 😛

Looks like a CRV to me with all those upgraded options added. nothing interested me 🙂 thanks for the info though.

It's about time Honda had an in-house SUV, it just doesn't make sense to keep selling the re-badged Isuzu. Still, I would have liked to have seen it done with a body-on-frame design and with the engine pointing N/S instead of E/W. I do like the interior a lot though, especially the guages. This should be a big success for Honda.

It looks absolutely 100% Honda: great job! Conservative design, perhaps a little feminine, but you know immediately that it's a Honda. It reminds me of a large CR-V. Very nicely done interior, as always. Should be a hit especially with all that power on tap. It will probably have 225hp or so to differentiate from Acura.

Pilot sounds dumb, though.

No, no, no. I didn't mean literally that they took the front end off the Trooper and sides off the Jeep. I should've been more specific. I meant that stylistically, it looks like those vehicles.

Funny; if this vehicle was out back in November, I may have bought it. I wanted to stay Honda, but they didn't offer an SUV, so I got a Trooper. I like the Trooper, even though it has no room for kickpanels, but that's another story.+-

Yay, another CRV. Just what the world needed. Another crippled (off-road anyways), boring, wannabee SUV.

Soccer moms UNITE! 😉

I for one is happy!
The CRV b20 engine is great for swaps. More big hondas means more big engines to swap in my CRX.
🙂

When you do that, you might want to swap the tranny too. Honda's inline 4 cylinder motors turn counter-clockwise, while the v6 and the s2000 motor (the exception to Honda's inline 4 counter-clockwise rule) turns clockwise.

I'd love to see someone swap a 3.5L v6 into a CRX...

I am not in the market for an SUV, but I know my dad wants a replacement for his RAV4. If it's in the $25-$30K range, I bet he'll grab one.

<< Are the Honda SUV's still made by Isuzu? >>

This one won't be. This one will be made in Honda plants in Ohio and Ontario I believe

The only one should have been the Passport/Rodeo, other then that the CRV I thought was pure Honda

Isuzu should dump everything they got but Diesel, they were the 1st Diesel in Japan and thats all they know how to make.

You're right: The CRV is pure Honda.

Yeah! The Isuzus at Budget Rent-a-Truck are top notch. They're much better than those crappy old U-Hauls. 😉

<< aw geez.. you got me all excited.. i thought honda was bringing back their Pilot single seater offroad buggy... >>

haha me too, maybe its because this SUV POS is using the old Pilot go cart engine

<< No offense, and I'm not thread crapping. I'm just wondering, what do people find attractive about SUVs? >>

What do people find attractive about minivans, pickups, 2-doors, motorcycles, convertibles??

Who cares, people like what they like😉

<< so who makes this engine? is honda still using isuzu rodeo's engine? >>

It's made by Honda. The 3.5L V6 is the same in the Acura RL , MDX, and Honda Odyssey.

Given the choice, would you buy the Toyota Highlander (Lexus RX300) or the new Honda Pilot (Acura MDX) and why?

Easy Answer - Honda Pilot. Why?

More power, bigger displacement motor -
* Honda 3.5L v6 240hp, Toyota 3.0L v6 220hp
Lower cost and higher value -
* even though Pilot's price hasn't officially announced, Honda has always priced their products lower than a comprablaly equipped Toyota. Compare the price between the Accord vs Camry, Odyssey vs Sienna, Civic vs Corolla, ES300 vs TL/CL, MDX vs RX300, and Acura RSX Type-S vs Celica GTS, and you will see the Toyota always cost more and sometimes feature less (Sienna is a much smaller minivan)
Better interior -
* The Highlander carries over that ugly urinal style shift gate design from the RX300. The Pilot's steering wheel looks awesome. Pilot has a third row seat to seat upto 7 with a "magic" style hideaway that folds into the floor. Highlander seats max of 5.

That's all I can think of for right now. Toyota are great products, but IMO, they are very overpriced.

Well, we just got a '02 Highlander Limited and we couldn't be happier with it. It's a great vehicle and it fits our needs. And the Highlander has a more comfortable ride the MDX/Pilot twins. But for $32,500 fully loaded, we couldn't go wrong (OK, it didn't have heated seats, but who's keeping score?😉). And I LOVE the interior of our Highlander. The interior of the Pilot looks to "busy" to me.

The horsepower difference means NOTHING b/c the Highlander weights about 600 lbs less than the MDX. The Highlander wouldn't have any trouble dusting the MDX/Pilot😉

But I do agree with the price comparisons made. Toyotas are usually higher priced.
