lol our professor has mentioned most of her undergrads are mostly girls with Apple stuff. I should have been a marketing major when I was an undergrad haha.

Did the survey, I am not generally swayed by brands but I do tend to avoid certain brands (LG, Acer, Apple, Dell etc) due to prior bad experiences or no willingness to join a cult. Sometimes the brand can tarnish a great product to the point where it sells badly.

Interesting, since AMD is obviously in the game.

It puts a rather ironic spin on dealcorn's opinion that the results would be skewed because this forum would be too informed. Probably more people here saying "monopoly" while at the same time probably more people here who are even aware of AMD than the general public.

So we talked a little more about our survey and the professor is happy with the high response rate. We originally started with 20 results, where surveymonkey randomly gives surveys but after posting we got another 100, AT effect indeed.

So obviously the results will be techie biased but we discussed also that this would probably be more representative of an IT professional sampling or enthusiast of course.

Anyways we are good to post results, I'll do so this weekend. Thanks guys.

Hi guys, here are the results. The post only has some basic sample results since the big tables don't format well, but full data is in the link.

Pretty typical for what you would expect from the discussions we see on the forums. Acer rated low for quality, Apple high quality, but a poor value. Intel rates very high for CPU quality. Lots of smartphone and desktop users, with most people over 3.0 GHz.

Thanks so much!

I really think you should have put a little more detail in. Not all Intel microprocessors are good in all situations eg. a crappy Atom-based system would be destroyed by an AMD FX system in performance, even though the big-core Intel processors have much better singlethreaded performance. In this situation, I would always pick AMD.

Does your professor believe I'm a brainwashed idiot for believing these Intel microprocessors to be better?

Less than 1 in 10 of those who took the survey were female.
It looks like i'm surrounded mostly by 30 to 39 year old males, no wonder i'm single :(

I'm kind of surprised we had so many females who responded. It takes a special kind of girl to hang with this geeky crowd.
