tried to setup my new IC7 board yesterday and everything was going well. i was using an SMC NIC card in the fourth PCI slot, it was the only PCI slot being used. i put it in the 3rd slot to give my 9700 card a little room. card was recognized, i installed the drivers and everything was going well. got online through my cable modem, dl'd WIN XP SP1 and some windows update files.
then i shut down and put my turtle beach santa cruz sound card in the next PCI slot. when i pwerd up, no new hardware was detected. i tried installing the santa cruz through device manager with no luck. no biggie, i can live with onboard sound for a bit but at this point my NIC card was no longer working. it was recognized in device manager with the "!". the error message was code 12, not enough resources. i checked but it didnt look like anything else was using the same resources.
as i assumed something with my sound card was screwing thinhgs up, i immediately removed it and did a fresh install of windows. as soon as the install finished, i went into device manager to install the drivers for my NIC and now immediately had the ! error of not enough resources. this is without any other PCI slots being used. i was only running 2 cdroms, 2 HDD both regular IDE. an agp video and the NIC, thats it.
i then tried disabling anything i could in the BIOS, clearing my CMOS, using the default BIOS, pretty much anything i could. the result was the same, an unuable NIC with error 12. i tried a linksys NIC i had sitting around, same prob.
i then tried a 3rd install of windows, same probs and im at a lost. can anyone help me out?
