How are you going to get the $9 service job?
Not hard around here, plus I never burn bridges

Before I was a programmer I was a cook in a 4 star restuarant, $9 is a low estimate, If I go one town over entry level is like $10.50 for cooks, $15 for clerical/office type stuff, and I'm skilled in either, so im not too worried right now.
If you are going to program, what are you going to do after the service jobs?
huh? do you mean how am I going to do both? I dont, one is quick and easy until I find another. I might do a few hours freelance proggin, like I've done before, but thats about it.
Do you think getting laid off was your fault? :-/
I'd say about 10% my fault, 90% the managements own stupidity biting them in the ass. They are running out of money and its thier own fault. I'm half tempted to become thier #1 competitor exactly 6 months from today (the day the non-compete agreement runs out

)

doesn't being a programmer just suck??? I'm thinking of going back to school and getting out of this profession. not sure what to go into though...
fvck yeah, I've worked in a lot of professions, and this is by far the least stable, stuff changes overnight, talk about stress. One day I get a good paying 9-5 then im out on the street for a while, then another good paying 9-5, back on the street. etc. But I dont think im gonna change professions, im meant to program, my brain is way too logical to be wasted on anything else.

I'm sorry - that bites. I always thought you were an AD Marine?
(at first i thought you said ADD Marine, heh) nope, went reserve, still undecided on wether I should have went active or not. I love being a Marine, but the day to day on a base would drive me nuts (think USAF discipline times 20), I prefer just going in for the crazy times. Though I actually volunteered for extra active duty last year after I got back, but I never heard back from HQ, guess they already had enough volunteers. Should get called on for my second tour within a year anyways.
What timing, my night class starts tomarow (1st non-military class I've taken in about 3 years) so maybe this is a blessing in disguise. At least I will have plenty of time to study!
