There is no way u can play doom 3 at ultra settings... anyway, geforce 6800 is not worth buying either... it only has 128 mb memory and 12 pixel pipelines. a 6800 gt will definitely be much more worthwhile than that... the max settings that u can play doom 3 on is peobably high settings and 1024 X 768

Yea, I've had my Chaintech AA6800 up around 425/825, but keep it at 380/800 now. With:

Athlon 64 3000
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
2x 512 Corsair PC3200 LL
SB Audigy 2

I can run Doom 3 on Ultra, 1024x768 4xAA 4xAF and Farcry @ maxed out no problem. On my 19" monitor, I've never seen the need to go higher than 1024x768.

I have to disagree with you etzy. The 6800 is quite a performer right now...

Well I just applied the 1.2 patch and lighting seems to be good now. But the best I can do is 1024x768 and medium texture quality. On 1280x1024 it's completely unplayable. I don't know... I'll be reinstalling XP this weekend, maybe it's a driver issue that will be fixed after the reinstall.

Check your AGP aperture size. Set it to 256mb

My 6800 runs 1600x1200 High no problem. The difference between the 6800 and 6800GT in Doom 3 is negligible at best. Sounds like someone is just repeating crap they read somewhere.

Check out the Doom3 sticky post on the first page of this forum to get an idea of what you should be getting in Doom3. As far as FarCry goes, I was able to play at 1024x768 everything high with 2xAA using my 5900U and maintain a minimum 30fps. Now I know your 6800 can do better than that. I currently have a 6800GT but haven't really compared benchmarks yet. As you can see, your rig is faster than mine.

I read the big topics regarding AGP aperture size, and I played around with 64 and 128, but saw absaolutely no difference. I can try increasing it to 256, but not sure what that will do.
