Problems with Netflix

The last few times I've sent back my netflix dvds I mailed all 3 in 1 envelope. About 2 days later(which has become the standard now from the next day) I would get an email saying 2 of the 3 arrived. The 1 "missing" DvD would arrive the next day(and my account activity logs prove this). What kind of crap are they trying to pull here? How can 1 dvd arrive a day later when they are all in the same frackin envelope?

Is anyone experencing this same thing? I already sent my "Netflix settlement frack off" letter for the lawsuit that was settled in CA and I'm having thoughts of getting my own lawsuit rolling here in VA.

Any suggestions on how to document that I am in fact sending all 3 disks in one envelope, so I have actual proof of Netflix misdealings?

maybe they do things differently if you send them all in one envelope. try sending them in their own envelopes from the same mailbox on the same day?

I recently cancelled my netflix and went with a movie provider via satellite, I have to agree they could've been faster.

its probably automated somewhat and u screwed stuff up by overstuffing envelopes. ur thing probably had to be manually entered delaying everything. atleast thats my guess. use separate envelopes for smooth service.
if u return without the sleeve its even worse since then they have no barcode..then its fubared for a while.

Netflix is throttling you. They do this if you're heavy user. They do this to me too. It's bull and if you sue, you should be able to win.

known issue that netflix has even admitted to. People who "rent too much" in their eyes become lower priority over others.

I think there already was a class action lawsuit and the class won...a whole single rental or something like that. :disgust: They do it to me too when I rent "too many". I'm on vacation damnit! :|

I was doing that, each DvD in its own envelope and I found it weird that always 2 would make it the same day and 1 would make it a day later, so I switch to going 3 in 1 envelope on the last 2 returns. I am using their own envelope too(You can fit 3 in no problem)

I opted out for a possible future and much larger lawsuit. My frack off letter was sent certified mail and was received.

From the Netflix TOS:

In determining priority for shipping and inventory allocation, we give priority to those members who receive the fewest DVDs through our service. As a result, those subscribers who receive the most movies may experience that (i) the shipment of their next available DVD occurs at least one business day following return of their previously viewed movie, (ii) delivery takes longer, as the shipments may not be processed from their local distribution center and (iii) they receive movies lower in their queue more often than our other subscribers. Other factors that may affect delivery times, include, but are not limited to, (i) the distance between the distribution center from which your DVD was shipped and your delivery address, (ii) the timing of your placement or adjustment of movies in your queue and (iii) circumstances impacting delivery by the U.S. Postal Service.

My Netflix started doing that after I started returning same day. I found that as long as I could get the movies to the PO before midnight, they would arrive at netflix the next day. After about a week of that I started getting what you are talking about. Movies would show as received, but nothing shipped in the queue. Or a movie would show as arrived and my next selection would be in the Queue with a later ship date, last I looked I had one waiting shipment for January 2. Thats a week from now.

Prolly going to dump them soon anyway. $20/mo is getting a little spendy when I can do the same thing locally at $1/movie/day. The only thing Netflix has going for it for me is TV seasons.

It's business... can you really expect netflix to just ship out one every day at 72c round trip. 15 days x 72c = $10.80 for 1 dvd. Netflix wouldn't even exist if that were the case.

Are you sure it is okay to send them all in one envelope? Why not just send them all individually, it is not costing you anything. I know with Gamefly, once the return envelope gets scanned at the post office they send out your next game, so you have to send them individually. Unless it is written somewhere that it is okay to send them all in one envelope I would suggest not doing it and see if that solves your problem.

quit putting all 3 movies in one sleeve. there's no reason to do that, and it makes more work on their end. No wonder they slowed you down.

They're trying to discourage the 'burn & return' crowd who often send the movies back the very same day they recieve them.
The service I was a member of stopped offering 'unlimited rentals' because of it. Bastards. :p

It doesnt make any more work. In fact it makes less work. How many per envelope has nothing to do with it. Its throttling as others have stated. This is a known fact.

They have barcode reading machines which scan the incoming envelopes. Having 3 in one sleeve means they have to manually seperate them and make new sleeves for them.

Throttling IS a fact, but doing what OP is doing is stupid.

It's happened to me, and I'm definitely not a heavy user. I usually send them back all in one envelope because I'm a nice guy and I figure it saves them on postage, but sometimes it takes an extra day for all of them to show up. I don't know if I was being throttled simply because I put them all in one envelope, but I was definitely not a heavy user.

That's the idea - throttle heavy users so they quit.

it might have worked originally..sending in one evelope, assuming their automation or whatever could handle it. but now if u look at the evelopes theres a window for the barcode to show through. you want to speed their handling along so putting 3 in one evelope is counter productive now.
