Problems with GA-7VRXP + WinME

I have the following problems with my system.

1. GA-7VRXP will not run at 133 FSB. It runs fine at 100. I have left the voltage at default, increased it, with no luck at 133
I have had the 1Ghz for over a year, and it will clock at 7.5*133 with ease on other boards, so I know the CPU is not bad.

2. Windows ME is a disaster of an installation. I can get it to install initially, but as I install drivers and PCI cards, it eventually crashes so hard, I have to reformat the HD and start over. Sometimes, I don't install anything but the basic CPU, Memory, and video card and it still becomes so corrupt, it wont even boot in safe mode. I have installed WinME on another mobo, with the same components, with no hitch.

3. The add hardware screen freezes and stops responding EVERY time now. I can't even install the motherboard onboard audio drivers or ANY other PCI cards because of the add hardware freezing up. The update hardware settings with a % complete takes forever, usually between 2-5 minutes to complete the process.

4. I cant stand the post check where it tries to detect a MBUltra 133 device. Is there a way to disable this and still use my U100 HD?

I know the all the components except the motherboard are good, as I have had them all for over a year.

Any recommendations before I contact Gigabyte, and then MS for tech support?

Yes, it supports the 133 FSB. I bought the 266 version of the AMD cpu, not the 200.

Anyone think it could be related to the WinMe OS?

Some time it may be IRQs conflict. It happens on me. I use Matrox RT2500. RT2500 has to be on its own IRQ, cannot be shared otherwise it crashes my windows XP. Try to disable all those onboard device (usb 2.0, usb 1.1 (the usb 1.1 back panel still works), Memory Stick, serial ports, parallel port, memory stick etc). enable them one by one after your system is stable. If you want to use more device, in the bios change to ACPI (argh...actually windows 9x/ME does support). About the MBultra133, the driver is on the cd that came with the board. Read the manual it tells you how to do it.

UPDATE: The problem was the Crucial memory. I ordered a 512MB stick of Samsung PC2700 from googlegear.com and it resolved the problem. I am able to boot my OS using a 133 FSB, and it appears to be stable.

WigglePuppy: Good question. I just installed WCPUID, and noticed that my memory is running at 266. I went back into the BIOS and have tried every adjustment I can think of regarding the memory setting, and it still runs at 266.

Any suggestions on how to rectify this?
