well, in the Nano's defense (and to reiterate what iamwiz82 said above), the report indicated how the Nano was still functioning after the abuse. the tortured iPod looked like hell afterwards.

You're all just Apple haters. The Nano is a great design and product that works very well that's able to withstand the abuses of getting run over by a car. You're all just jealous you don't own one.

just out of curiosity, was the user-replaced battery of higher capacity than the OEM one?

Yes. The replacement, a Newertech, is 2100 mAh, and the stock one is, IIRC, 1230. I get at least 20 hours on a charge with the new one.

It can hardly be considered a first gen product, they've had like 4 generations of regular iPods and the iPod mini. You wouldn't expect it to have the problems you might expect from a first-generation product. And regardless, don't blame the buyer because companies don't test their products well enough.

I do agree with what you said, however, I do consider miniturizing technology to be a bigger jump than firmware or other misc updates within the same package. I wasnt blaming the buyer. Buying new products carry risks. Many times, the good outweigh the bad. I would expect it to have similar problems that all tiny objects have - I would also expect Apple to address these issues.

Frankly, one of the purposes people buy Ipod and its derivatives are due to its looks. While a scratched up screen doesnt effect its functionality (unless it is terrible), it somewhat dampens the effect of a clean appearance. Personally, I would probably have purchased those camera LCD screen protectors, but to each their own.

Apple seems to admit there is a defect in some of the nanos they shipped. This is only for the cracked screens though.
