I am about 90 lbs over my ideal weight. In an attempt to regain the shape of my younger years I have been playing basketball with the guys from work once a week and trying to eat healthier.

We play half court 4 on 4 for about 2.5 hours. I noticed during this time I get winded, my face gets red, I can feel my heart beating in my forehead, a little dizzy, and I get sore quickly (especially the day after).

is this somewhat normal? I havent known about this thing you can execising since I was 18 (I am 31 now) and I dont know if I should worry about these symptoms or not. *I have anxiety issues as well*

It is normal, your body is simply not used to this kind of stress. These symptoms will go away after you get in better shape. When I started exercizing again last year I had blood taste in my mouth when running. You just have to watch that you do not push yourself too hard, if you start feeling dizzy, step aside and take a rest.

However, playing basketball once a week is not going to be enough. 90lbs overweight is a lot. It's bad on your heart, it's bad on your joints, it prevents you from exercizing as hard as you can. You need to start eating less to cut on that 90 pounds of fat, and you need to start exercizing regularly, preferably every day or every other day.

If you're serious about actually losing weight, eating less is the key. Even if you eat good foods, but eat too much, you'll maintain or gain weight. Also, why are you exercising just one day a week? Why not go for a couple of walks/jogs during the week on your own?

sorry I am doing other exercising, but when I walk, use the elliptical, or other exercises I dont have these symptoms..or at least not as much.

I try to do at least 3-4 times a week for an hour minimum

I am in decent shape and exercise 4x a week. I also try to play soccer once or twice a week as well. I can assure you there is a difference between being in shape and being in 'game-shape'. Interval training is what you want to incorporate.
