Setup-
Intel P4 2.6C
Abit IS7
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb
Hercules Fortissmo III
NEC 19" CRT FE990-BK Black
Antec SLK37000AMB w/350 watt PSU
Panasonic FD
Lite On 16X DVD
Lite On 52X32X52X CDRW
1 gb DDR PC3200 Corsair Value Select
Western Digital 120 GB HD SE
Logitech Z-340
Logitech Cordless MX Duo

It starts up but takes a long while to detect the IDE devices and it takes awhile to boot from the cd into the Windows Setup. I'm installing Windows XP Home and when the setup starts I get this message
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer's supplied diagnostic or setup program."

I have the hdd set as master on the primary ide channel.

if your hdd is the only device on that channel, completely remove the master/slave jumper!

hmmmm, i would say to first check the connections (IDE cables into mobo, IDE into HDD). Does the BIOS recognize all the drives?

i have my HDD as the only device on that channel and I left the jumper on (as master) and haven't had any problems.

The jumper needs to be set to cable select or remove it all together....

you've done that already though so I'll just say O'Doil rules
