Problem with IEEE1394

I posted the same question on General Hardware two weeks ago, but didn't get any replies. Here is another try.

I purchased a unit of Tekram TR-1394W firewire adapter. I installed it, and windows XP
detected the card and installed an appropriate driver with no problems.
However, when I try plugging devices into it, they simply are not detected.
I'm trying to connect a Nikon D1x digital camera and Epson Stylus Photo 2200
printer, both uses Firewire connections.

I'm using an Asus P3B-F (Intel 440BX) motherboard, Pentium 3 733Mhz,
and Windows XP professional.

Anybody ever have similar problems or any idea what's wrong??

I tried tekram's website for an updated driver or some sort, but found nothing.

Double post? It's a septuple post!

Anyways, is this one of the expansion cards you can plug into a mobo header or is this like a PCI firewire card?

If it's the expansnion, I would probably think that the expansion piece is what is at fault. If it's the PCI, I don't think that would really be the issue. You could try moving it to a different PCI slot or maybe go to their website and get new drivers for it.

Good luck!

Damn, beat me by one minute.

it's actually a PCI, and yes I did try moving the card around-- no effect.

and tekram's website don't really have any drivers for the card.

any other suggestions?

Return the card and try another firewire card from a different manufacturer... Adaptec has their DuoConnect cards that have firewire and usb2.0. If you get the same problem its on your side and not theirs.
