I dunno, sounds like you did exactly what they wanted you to do. their yard is a few inches bigger and they got a free fence. Not a bad deal I think. Oh well, if you are happy with it, then that's fine.

did you even read the story?

That is why the older son is not arguing. Unlike the younger knuckle dragger, he is able to have a logical thought process and sees that his parents are getting a good deal.

I don't think they originally wanted me to pay for the whole thing based upon their reactions and the fact they had called a contractor. But I am more than happy to pay the full amount to take them out of the equation and handle it myself.

My neighbor directly behind built a fence last year before we bought our place and now has asked me to treat our side of it at our cost and labor.

We're still considering our move, but the g/f is adamant we do it no questions asked...
I'd offer to do the labor but ask him to provide the treater.

I am debating on colors to paint their side with. Any suggestions?

Make it really gaudy. Don't stick to one colour. By 2-3 different ones and randomly paint them.

For example, get Lime green, purple and orange. GPPOPGGOP or whatever you fancy. That'll show them.

Plaid.

lol @ the color suggestions. I could do it on the cheap. Go to the oops isle at home depot and buy one of everything. Wouldn't cost me more than 15 bucks!

Poles are in the ground. Almost done!

make it match a DNA sequence. My initials in DNA sequence are GCA GCG, so get green, cyan, and almond color paints and then paint in that pattern. it would look random but have very significant meaning! 😉

seriously, please at least paint a few spots a very annoying color. it would be awesome.

How much did this cost you? Maybe you were better off calling a few contractors and getting a price and sorting this. Any pictures?

Who the heck says stuff like this? Or even knows this kind of stuff?

LOL...I was thinking the same thing🙂

As for my adventure with my neighbor, it just keeps getting better.

I woke up this morning and went outside to water the garden. I noticed that the front property marker was missing. I walked up to it and it seems my lovely neighbor drove right over it with his truck. He didn't even bother trying to fix it or put it back up. It wasn't even up 12 hours...🙁

I really need to move...

No. I have done lots of projects, been general contractor on a few. I am positive a contractor would have charged me more and/or used crappier materials for the price.

Ok I put an update on the OP, with pictures. Enjoy 🙂

I could only get long shots, no wides. So FYI the color pattern is marmelade, light green, red, yellow, lavender, another light green, and white.

wyvrn you're my hero :Q

Props for putting up with your crazy neighbors. That is the most unbelievable story I've heard in a long, long time. That is horrible man! I can't believe that people would be that crazy!

This is seriously one of the best stories ever. I think what makes it so good is you have such a great attitude and you are so calm about everything.

I was curious, did you paint their side of the fence *after* you put it up? How did you do it? Did you stand on the other side of it, squeezing yourself within an 8 inch space? Or did you stand on your side and lean/reach over the top? Isn't that a pain?

There's still one step left... you have roughly 6 inches of property on the other side. I think it needs.... a SHRUBBERY!

Might I suggest poison oak? Ohhh, I know! Poison Ivy would look very nice climbing on the fence 😀

I stood on my side on a stool. I reached over and painted downwards, using a painter's pole and a roller. It was easy but my arms hurt afterwards. It was worth it though.
