pro2a users near extinction

I've got a Pro2a aswell, running a Duron 650 @ 685 (6.5*105).
I tried running it with the FSB at 108, but no luck, got lockups when
looping 3DMark.

I've been considering doing the pencil trick for a while, but I've
been scared that I will mess something up beyond repair.

But I probably will make an attempt soon, and then I'm aiming to run
like 8.5 or 9 x 100!

I would push that multiplier up the durons around this site are doing 800 to 1000mhz with just multiplier makes me feel like a fool for spending $230 for a 1ghz Tbird 2 months ago.

I have painted my L1 and L7 bridges with a conductive pen and you shouldnt worry about making a mistake you can always erase them with acetone. I kind of think its harder to erase pencil marks and you never know when you have to re do them . Just do it once with a pen or loctite rearwindow defogger repair kit "set it and Forget it"

good luck

i finally found you guys, i've been looking someone to help me overclock my duron 700 w/ (of course) a pro2-a mobo. Assume i have no idea what to do. Step by Step.

and how far could go with a coolmaster heatsink.

thanks

not exactly a wiz but legend has it that you have to first bridge your L1 Bridges (all fo them) with either conductive pen or loctite rear window defogger repair kit. Some people use a highdensity pencil but always deal with uncertainty when they have to redo them. After bridging them you pretty much can up the multiplier on that sucker as much as it can handle e.g 8 x 100fsb, 9 x 100fsb, 10 x 100fsb. Or you can up the fsb first at 1 mhz at a time maximize this then up the multiplier. Based on this thread the pro2a does not really do good with increasing fsb ave 105 to 110. Consider also bridging your L7 bridge to maximize your voltage at post to improve your chances of even posting you can always decrease the cpu voltage in your bios.

good luck/ remember warranty is void if they see any traces of your overclocking

dont worry about making a mistake with bridging bridges you can always erase them with acetone and try again

I'm also here!!!!

I'm using OC bios v1.0B16.

But it looks like my 1,2GHz athlon is crappy. I'm using Taisol and Arctic Silver. 1300 was stable for a long time. now 1260 is enough........
