We made some changes to private topics, fixed a bunch of little bugs and added some stuff. Now when you create a private topic it will notify all the participants that the topic has been created and they are a part of it. The participants are also subscribed to the thread automatically.

Uhm, ew. I hate being subscribed to threads. I don't even like getting emails when a thread is moved to another forum.

Hey Zuni - just a question about Private Topic - is there anyway to change the "New Messages" icon on the main forums page? (IE, the category listings) I've yet to start or get invited to a PT, but everytime I visit the flag on the mailbox is up. Would it be possible to change the indicator from everyone's PT topics to just yours, or am I asking something kind of impossible? Thanks!

I can't believe that EVERYONE else wants to get subscription notifications every time a private topic is updated. A creation notification, maybe, but really that's taken care of by LOOKING at the folder. Automatically being subscribed, no.

I don't mind the notification email, but I am not down with the autosubscribe feature. I left for an hour and my mailbox was filled with subscription updates.

As was I.

I even unsubscribed from the thread, when i came back it had auto-subscribed me again with another 12 emails.

This feature STINKS !!

Maybe instead of auto-subscribing, it could just send a simple email letting them know they were invited to a topic. (kinda like the email that goes out when a thread is moved)

This feature could be abused easily. One person can create a bunch of threads while inviting a bunch of people. Then just keep posting to the thread to fill people's mailboxes up.

I never got any response when I pointed out that someone's Private Topics can be spammed anyway, and there's no way to stop it or delete topics, without even considering an auto-subscribe feature.

It does not matter if you unsubscribe. Everytime the originator posts, you are automatically resubscribed.

Honestly, I never want to get automated email form the forum telling me that "your thread has been moved" or anything. Definitely not everytime someone posts.

K we'll remove the auto subscribe, no problem for those asking for an initial email you might want to look at your inbox as that was already done. When you are invited in and the thread is created you get sent an initial e-mail.

I also get a welcome message everytime the thread originator posts.

I am getting a bunch of undeliverable mail to people I invited to a thread I made a few days ago. Also getting notices everytime someone posts, but Zuni said that was now taken care of...

Would it be possible to make the notification email not have the thread creator's email address in it?

I've noticed something strange. When I searched for the term "Hammer" in my private topics user list, I got less results than when I searched for it through the forums search engine. Because of this, I couldn't add the person with the username "Hammer" ... there were a bunch of variation, but the person that I was searching for wasn't there.

Correct, we only list the top 8 results so you have to be exact in knowing who the user is. With 100,000 users we aren't gonna list them all :)

I'll look into this though

Thing is that I put in the exact name ... that's why I thought this was strange.

Anyway, great work Zuni!
Just out of curiosity, are there any other programmers working on FT4?

2 of us built all the products, myself and Dominic.

Yeah I see the issue we'll see what we can do about it.

Zuni,

We still get an invitation email everytime the thread originator posts. Could you look into it please? Thanks.
