Private Messages Cleanup

With over 2 million messages in the database it is time to do a clean up of private messages. Wednesday night we will be removing any message older than 3 months back. So if you have valuable information copy it to your local computer. Thank you.

I wonder how much space Zuni cut down from the initial 1.2GB the PM's were taking up.

that depends on how old the databases were. If it had 2 years of PMs and was 1.2 GB large, then that would equal to around 50 MB of pms per month. Therefore there should be only 150 MB of PMs as of now. Of course, you have to take into consideratin that Anandtech has been growing the past 2 years, among other things, so id say 150-300 MB is an accurate estimate

I'm with ThisIsMatt on this one. It would be useful to be able to download all PM's or a selection of them. It kinda sucks to copy 100+ conversations and paste them into NotePad

Is there a way that next time you have to do cleanup early that you could either send out a mass pm or post here to indicate that it will be done early and give people 15-30 minutes to save important info? I'm sure Narzy wasn't the only one who lost some stuff.

I saw the warnings that were posted, but like many was at work where backup was impossible. I figured I had two days to worry about it.

I didn't lose anything important, but I did want to save an HTML of the view all page.
