LOL, where do I begin? First, your comment about "bowing down and kissing the ring" shows exactly what you think of your Dear Leader (how honest and unAmerican of you!) Why stop at 2020?? I'm sure he can finagle a 3rd term if he wants!

That list of BS is impressive, though it also includes morality, truth, civility and pretty much every other American ideal.

Some folks sure got played for suckers alright.
For the Op and to paraphrase Louis XIV

Trump est l'état et l'état est Trump.

It took Sp33dy now almost 2 years after the election to figure out that Dems underestimated Trump.

Good job, Sp33d. That very good brain working overtime again, I see.

If Trump had billions to steal he'd be giving it to the middle class or military. Also he needs money like he needs a hole in the head, Trump Org had a 50% profit margin last year (more than Apple). Would love to see proof of this surreptitious murdering and torturing of opponents you speak of unless you mean metaphorically (then agreed).

Why do you keep repeating zombie lies like that. LoL--this bullshit passing off "profit margin" as if it shows they are somehow impressive against Apple. LoL. Dude's empire is nearly bankrupt.

To be fair, everyone underestimated Trump.

I was absolutely convinced his run was a joke and he didn't actually want to be president. I thought it would be an easy win for Hillary and that even Trump would be relieved when she did, like just wrapping his latest reality show "Trump runs for Prez".

But, here we are.

Yeh, all patriots gloat over not paying taxes, right?

Not to mention that inheriting a real estate empire probably gives a guy a little boost, huh?

I'm not jealous of Trump. I wouldn't be Trump. I decided long ago that if that's what it takes to be "a success" then I wanted no part of it.
I do pay normal taxes for my day job - in fact Trump's new tax law lowered my tax bracket a bit and I don't live in an extravagant house so property tax cap isn't going to kill me. For my own company, I use tax shelters. There's absolutely nothing wrong with other countries adding better incentives to entice global biz owners. I think it depends on the industry, however and how you run your biz. I'm not exploiting cheap labor since I'm in the financial sector and deal with more global customers than domestic. I think if you're in a business that sells products exclusively to Americans then you should try to hire and pay Americans. Trump does/has done that his entire career for his buildings. Hell even though my side biz is very small we still have hired exclusively American (social media manager, another social media moderator) and only have one out of four founding board members who isn't an American.

Yes, inheriting a real estate empire did give him a boost but he has outperformed the S&P which is nothing to scoff at. He could have easily blown it on living extravagantly instead of building up to a 500mil/yr biz with a 50% profit margin.

LOL. Funniest thing I've read in a long time. I can just see Trump in Robin Hood tights right now.

Putin has been murdering for decades. You can just type in google "putin murder torture" and you'll find hundreds of articles from both newspapers here and in europe about this. Ever heard of the Magnitsky act for starters which was very much at the center of the russian collusion scandal for a little whilst in 2017? Its named after one of the most famous torture and murders orchestrated by putin which lead to several european countries and US countries to essentially blacklist Russian corrupt oligarchs from entry and utilization of their financial institutions, something described as the number 1 thing Putin has been lobbying the US to lift.
I'm not disputing that Putin does shady, surreptitious stuff like you mentioned. I'm just wondering why the other poster was relating that to Trump. He's made it clear that he could be retired and golfing and living the good life stress-free right now, but cared about our country to run and try to improve it and defend it. His 1987 interview shows that he's been consistent with wanting to make our country better even 30 years ago. He was elected b/c he wasn't the usual backstabbing politician who only looked out for corporate interests first. While his new tax cuts do benefit corps, they also help the little guy. Isn't that the ideal scenario where everybody wins? To squabble about how much more corps are making is missing the point that he accomplished something that not many people could do in reforming our tax code that benefited everyone. Yes, there was a bit of a shiv to the rich blue staters/hollywood elite living in 1, 2, 10mil+ properties but they should be paying more anyway according to Democrats.

Did they underestimate Trump as an individual or did they underestimate the depth of the crisis the US is in?

Does that mean in the end, he'll just be rich? ;)

Underestimated Trump? How about HRC lies? People saw through her inconsistencies over the years.

ALL politicians are full of shit. You vote for which policies best resonate with you. As people, Trump and Clinton both have huge character flaws and are dishonest. When you really have only two choices what do you do? Staying home, or writing someone in, does absolutely nothing, except maybe represent a vote for the other one. The bulk of the votes always go to the D & R nominees. The independents, green, libertarian, etc., don't get enough votes to have an impact, and are normally seen as fringe candidates.

Doesn't change the facts bro, your concern trolling is noted. Republicans primaries and elected Trump, can't change that now. Trump's been lying since he first hit the scene almost 50 years ago. It's obvious republicans dont actually care about lying, it's just the game they play.

It was clearly as obvious Democrats didn't care about lying either, or Clinton would never have been the nominee. Two wrongs don't make a right, so I'm not trying to play whataboutism here. One became president and the other didn't. People just act like 4 years is a long time and it's the end of the world. It's not. There will be another election and it will be soon, as a couple years goes pretty quickly.

Well not everyone had the whole story.. It was not just Trump was it? Had people known about the whole foundation of Russian backing, anarchist Bannon, Manafort, Flynn, Kushner and what Cambridge Analytica was up to with what data, I think it the scales would have come out differently.
Trump didnt want to win but he was carried over the goal line and now he has to pay the debts.

It's just he game republicans play, they love to hold that measuring stick up to others and are perfectly content with their lack of self awareness==Trump, game, set, match.

Republicans have gotten themselves into a position to make long lasting, wide sweeping changes to our so-called democracy that will be felt for generations, even if it's costs their voters specifically. So no, it's not as mudane as you allude.

At this point, I'll disengage from you, because you have admitted this is just a troll forum for you.

You read right, that's an opinion piece on CNN by a Princeton Professor giving Trump his dues.[sic]

[Foghorn Leghorn level massive bluster, the crowing and gloating of an asshole ensues.]
Sometimes the truth of a person comes through in the tiniest of things, like Speedy, who no doubt fancies himself as a propagandist par excellance and master of the word, but doesn't even know that the phrase is "give Trump his due," no 's', which renders his lead sentence unintelligible unless one thinks this Princeton Professor was returning Trump's dues for some putative club or organization he belonged to.

Ciffs: "Dues" /= "due" . . . in the English language, that is.

Shrug. Barbarians and ignoramuses, they wear the shiniest of suits and loudly gloat like the tiny little men they are, thinking their ascendancy in this, the age of Trump, will prevail. It won't.

This particular palace is built on lies, greed and colossal ignorance. Horseshit does not a good mortar make. It's coming down.

My man Moonie knows what's up:

To be a massive asshole one needs an airtight mental defense. Gloating and the self worship go with the turf. Laugh away but one thing is for sure. You will never escape a world free of people who can see what you are, somebody who had everything real taken from them. You can’t how damaged and sad you are and how deep if your hurt. The last thing you want to know and why you act like an asshole is that you have been forgiven. May you know it anyway. The Divinely Beloved loves you more than you can imagine and He is real.

Just as a point of clarification, and this has probably already been said in the thread, but democrats are not underestimating Trump, they're continually underestimating (or perhaps overestimating depending on your point of view) the American people.

The majority of voters don't want what's happening. The electoral college has enabled minority rule, and that was won by less than 100k votes. Enjoy that faux democracy. What's happening now is not just another hand waved away situation. Troll on, it's all you do, it's how the innate disingenuous republican operates. Do as I say, not as I do, how very christian, and american /s
