Wow. Right now an ex-gf of mine is probably curled up in the corner of a running shower crying her eyes out. 🙁

I was never that into his stuff, although I definitely respected his guitar skills. Seems like wherever I was in my life, Prince fans were all around me. Be it an Omani security guard who could barely speak English, or a hyper religious Baptist study partner I had once (who hailed from a family who considered modern music the devil's work), the man certainly had a large, devoted following and I always respected that. I respect anyone who writes their own music and/or can play at least one instrument. Telling Al Yankovic to toss off, not so much. When the Don Rickles of music wants to include you in his reindeer games, you say YES. Whatever.

RIP Prince, you were a legend that didn't leave a mark on history - you French kissed it. Even a guy like me knows that. If there is an afterlife, I hope you and Bowie and having epic jams.
 
An announcer was saying he saw Prince play basketball as a teen and what a baller he was.

I can't wrap my head around that fact.

An amazing musician regardless.
 
Damn. He wrote some amazing music, not only for himself but for others, and was a huge influence even when he wasn't putting out popular music. One helluva guitarist too and performer. RIP. 🙁

my 1st boss told me to "trust, but verify"
i think Prince is pretty smart. if the rumor is true, i think he woulda get a check up by a real doc as proof he's cured. ouch.
 
I am wondering how often we actually get the "real story" in the news, say when a celebrity or any public person dies.

There is probably more that is never made public.

"HIV" itself doesn't mean anything. I didn't follow what Prince did recently, but did he LOOK like a "soon dying AIDS patient"? Nonsense.
 
Don't know any of his music... But I saw 5 seconds of Purple Rain before I felt compelled to change the channel. Otherwise, I heard of him of late being more than a bit of a diva on occasion.

Still, he was quite the icon.

Have you ever seen the dude in (rare) interviews or at least heard true stories from people that encountered him?

Dude was pretty whack-cuckoo by most definitions. It's pretty feasible that if the AIDs thing is at least true, that Prince would most likely believe that he was cured by stone magic or some shit.

Hell, even Steve Jobs died because of such a stupid belief.

Pneumonia from influenza can kill anyone at any age. My nephew in his 20s (and seemingly healthy) ended up in the hospital for four days two years ago. Got the flu, didn't slow down and in less than a day he couldn't get out of bed. Skyrocketing fever, coughing, etc...
 
Was never a fan of prince, he always came across very gayish flamboyant... the way he dressed, talked and acted was loony.

You should have just gone with flamboyant.
