I am also late but I have lots of memory contention issues with my workstation so I have no clue how many I can run at once

Hopefully I can go to sleep, without my 3.70Ghz Ryzen 5 1600 crashing. It kinda "smelled hot" last time I was in the room. Hmm.

(Temps are still OK, according to HWMonitor, but there is an unexplained drop in fan RPMs on my 120mm Rad., from 2188 to 1999. Set to "full speed" in UEFI. Hope my new-ish ThermalTake TR2-430 isn't already on the fritz.)

That's a bad thing to smell, Larry. Not to worry you, but a neighbor recently asked me what could make a video card (980Ti) burst into flames. He was gaming at the moment. That must have been.....exciting. He had to get a new MB also, the old one was burnt so bad he was afraid to try running it again.

@VirtualLarry, you mentioned a desk cubby in the builders thread; front open, back with two openings. Though if the desk is placed right at a wall, so that air cannot easily escape from beneath the desk, the backside openings of the cubby may be ineffective. If so, the intake fan of the computer case could attract exhaust air, if not placed right at the front edge of the cubby...

Fortunately for me, none of the machines which I am using for PrimeGrid right now is blocked by a desk or other obstruction on top; their hot air can freely rise to the ceiling.

Hour 5 and Stefan is kicking some serious arse! WOOT! Go buddy! GOOOO!
I'm surprised. Turns out I didn't have to hurry with that screenshot last night.

It helps that some regulars aren't showing up* (fastgeek, 1998golfer). The gap between zunewantan and Scott Brown is larger than at the previous race too.

Well, I hope the less professional parts of my equipment, the router for example, keep up their good work until tonight.

edit: *) ...yet...

Aaargh! I'm slipping! The guys ahead of me tossed out a handful of nails, sprayed oil in a curve, and activated a smoke screen! (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!) And I see flashing headlights in the rearview too. :(

I didn't quite make 30K, but close. And we're comfortably in 5th place. :) Is that our best finish ever?
Where are these up to the minute stats to be found?

Wow, Ken, you have nearly twice my score. You must be packing more than just that i3 CPU... Oh, I see in your sig you upgraded. i7-6700. Very nice. I wonder if that CPU can outrun my 6C/12T Ryzen on AVX workloads?

Great race all
5th in a race seems to me to be the best I have seen.:)
Gotta get me some more cpu power. (waiting patiently to see the next AMD offering).

Curses! I had to set NNT, but it didn't download enough tasks, I know that primegrid downloads like tons of tasks, more than their deadlines permit

TeAm AnandTech's results in the 2017 Challenge series so far:
  • rank 11 at GCW-Sieve: Isaac Newton's Birthday Challenge (January 3 to 13)
  • rank 7 at PSP-LLR: Mathematics Awareness Month Challenge (April 7 to 22)
  • rank 5 at SGS-LLR: PrimeGrid's Birthday Challenge (June 12 to 13)
These numbers have something in common.

We found top-5000 primes during the Birthday Challenge.
Initial finders:
  • 10esseeTony: 3500763167295*2^1290000-1 on 2017-06-12 01:42:46 UTC (link)
Double checkers:
  • salvorhardin: 3520348797117*2^1290000-1 on 2017-06-12 18:20:30 UTC (link)
  • xii5ku: 3523251078867*2^1290000-1 on 2017-06-12 21:37:58 UTC (link)
(Additionally, during preparations for this race a week ago, our super-anonymous user xii5ku was initial finder of two primes and double checker of another prime.)

Is that our best finish ever?
The TeAm has been 6th a few times, but never 5th or higher.
Code:
2008: 30, 21, -, 63, 25, 145, 24 (unofficial), 38, ?
2009: -, 43, 64, 31, 20, 57, 22, 29, 26
2010: 26, 17, 14, 20, 16, 18, 10, 12, 6
2011: 13, 11, 10, 8, 15, 10, 9, 9, 23
2012: 12, 33, 7, 7, 18, 14, 13, 13, 16
2013: 10, 18, 16, 12, 19, 16, 12, 15, 15
2014: 10, 7, 13, 19, 17, 17, 16, 12, 13, 15, 9
2015: 14, 23, 6, 12, 7, 12, 14, 7, 6

Yeah! My 2nd ever Prime! I'm famous for a few minutes! :D

388342 digits long. So which is it, rank wise, I'm confuse-ified: http://primes.utm.edu/primes/page.php?id=123500
If you click on the (*) signs at the page, there is some explanation.

Here is my understanding:

Your prime entered the top-5000 list at rank 4902. Crunchers have been busy since and displaced your prime to rank 4913. That's the rank when sorted by count of decimal digits arithmetically.

However, when sorted by count of decimal digits, there are many more primes with as many digits as yours. In fact, all primes which the SGS-LLR subproject currently discovers have that number of digits. If all these primes are sorted arithmetically, then yours is placed 22nd.

Edit: I was mistaken about "Rank".

The other prime which you found in 2015 entered the top 5000 at rank 3326. But sadly, it has been pushed out of the top 5000 in November 2016 already, even though it has 388,342 decimal digits too.

Thought I would pop in and say hello "Hello"
Congratulation on the 5th place showing.
But we finish 5th most of the time, I think we want our spot back!!!
Guess we will have a friendly competition in primegrid going forward.
All in good fun.

Congratulations on the prime find Tony

It is quite a while until the next PG challenge, so enjoy the Summer in the meantime.

I managed to find one prime this go round.
It is possible to find more, not all tasks have been validated yet, so keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, Ryzen Powa baby!

I'm doubling-down, right beside me is my second Ryzen 5 1600 CPU and mobo. Need to acquire a decently-cooled case, and maybe another AIO CLC, and either rip some RAM out of a G4560 rig, or purchase some more (sigh).

I'm curious if PrimeGrid's tasks will utilize the AVX opcodes on a non-Intel CPU, like Ryzen. But due to the temps and power usage I was seeing with those tasks in HWMonitor, compared with WCG tasks, which are mostly integer, I think that AVX may have been active.

Edit: And thanks to everybody else, too. I'm not trying to claim the "win" here, I was nearly in last place. Thanks to everybody that participated!
